Okay. Maybe I just know too little about MtG worlds ;-) "Just a city" just sounded to me that agriculture is out of the question. But after your explanation it sounds to me that "it is done by magic". Anyways, thanks for the explanation.
>A Big City is generic*. Pretty much any setting can have one, including RL. A World city is fantastical. And having fantastical things is the whole point of SF/Fantasy.
Sure, "think fantastic" is good. But throwing all logic out of the window isn't. But well, we will see - maybe this is some...
>One of the fun things about fantasy and science fiction is finding interesting answers to that kind of problem. I'm hoping the writers don't >disappoint.
Yes, that's my point, something like that should not be ignored in the setting. Such a huge amount of people need to be nourished...

Here in Germany (maybe due to not having crazy Christian fanatics, but more normal Christians here ^^) the so-called "moral panic" did not happen at best my knowledge. I was a teen in the mid-80s and the only objections I heard from (those were raised regularly though) was "a kid your age should...
Yeah, probably D&D was always better there than Midgard (though Midgard is also a nice system, and I like the campaign where nearly all countries are based on "historical/legendary equvalents" - prevents the "standard fantasy country" issue many gameworlds have) ;-)
How do you mean, without...

Ah I see. But maybe it would be an idea to make up a new thread as we deviated a lot?
4e taught you that? In the way that you did so in 4e, or in the way that you saw the issue in 4e's "way of doing" more clearly?
For ourselves we switched to 4e from Midgard after we had issues with our old...

Midgard is actually not a homegrown RPG system and nearly as old as D&D ^^ I think it is 7 years younger if I remember right. It's current in it's 5th edition (though it did not "age well", in my opinion, it is still too much 80s style in some parts). It actually as D&D (which was successor to a...

Alright then I answer once more after all. But in a different style (I hope ;-) ). It is interesting to hear of other people's (different) experiences.
I wonder if it is a country issue (I am from Germany). Also while I was playing D&D 1st edition as a kid, my "RPG-growingup-phase" was with the...

Was not meant in any offensive way. Apologies if it was perceived as such. And for me the whole thread also caused a lot of "social anxiety". For my own "RPG experience" I don't know anyone in RL who uses random tables in their games, so I was quite surprised people/groups here do it different...

Yeah. If I would have guessed that someone would still use this other playstyle and continue to do so I wouldn't have posted.
Just was trying to teach and help ;-) But sure, everyone to his own.
Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that.
