Hi. How do clerics worshipping a deity of magic differ to wizards when it comes to casting magic? Do the clerics learn spells in the same way as a wizard or are they just gifted the ability to cast them?
Any ideas what a Seeker Patron would want from the warlock?
If I'm in just a general adventuring group squashing giant rats etc. how much knowledge gathering do I have to do? Would finding 1 forgotten tome keep the Gods happy? Does it need to be a constant mission to unearth knowledge?
How...
I took a look at This:

Seems a bit fiddly but could be what I'm looking for.

which is similar to the idea I added as an edit to my original...
I can never create a character that I can stick with. I get so influenced by what I am currently watching / playing / seeing.
I devised a knowledge cleric after walking around a cathedral with a lovely library.
Made a Bard after watching a ballet performance. Just thought about making a ranger...
I don't intend any abuse. I am now saying the spirit is summoned from the book and casts spells as a normal bard would. My character will have to keep book open and concentrate on it while spirit is casting spells.
My character won't be flavored as a Bard. It's the spirit that casts the spells...
I think you might be right. Sometimes simplicity is the best option. I think for combat this would be the best idea.
For everything else I could have a bit more flexibility maybe. Using the ghost thing for roleplaying.
Yes I like the idea of Warlocks, they sound a cool class. I just wanted more of a 'skill monkey' mundane character but much prefer the Bard's spells.
I wouldn't want to play a spell caster but like the utility and fun that spell casters get.
I am not a dnd player, this will be my first game...
I found this from another forum:
"When a spellcasting ghost manifests, its spells continue to affect ethereal targets and can affect targets on the Material Plane normally unless the spells rely on touch. A manifested ghost’s touch spells don’t work on nonethereal targets."
So ghost it is...
Sorry I didn't provide more information. I won't go into too much reasoning but my character I would like to create is a lore Bard (for utility) and say the spells are not cast from him but a spirit creature. The character carries a tome that when opened conjures a spirit who defends the PC /...
I didn't want a physical companion. I guess my spirit creature won't have any hit points and stays near my character.
I was thinking that my character has to have the book open to release the spirit so won't be able to attack and has to keep concentration.
If I allow the spirit to roam...
