We've had internet builds since at least 2001, so it shocks me to see people not expecting mix and match.
Multiclassing 2014 and 2024 will probably give the best bang for your buck, but I'll leave it to DnD Shorts or somebody else to spend the money and do the work.
I also like that sidebar...
I'm not seeing a lot about ongoing monetization, but I'm guessing the following will be available as DLC:
Races
Classes
Creatures
Map Packs
Adventures
...all that sort of thing.
Big question here is - how much, and in what format? For example, $5 for a map pack I can see doing. $50 for a...
I can't see how it matters. D&D 5e just lost a valuable resource and nobody benefited, WotC included.
Imagine a farmer with a talented pig who can oink the alphabet. People come from miles around to appreciate said pig. Farmer kills and eats said pig.
Within the farmer's rights? Yeah...
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the selection of your preferred (non-cloud) software titles is getting smaller by the day. Even Microsoft is jumping in with both feet. OpenSource is a thing, and probably always will be, but it has never been a commercially viable thing in and of...
I think instead of trying to increase the club to a d6, the better solution is to grant whatever character you're thinking needs this your blessing to sub in a mace instead. A big, wooden, knobby mace.
Yeah, no. I recall him saying he didn't care whether or not anyone at the table but him enjoyed themselves. Doesn't strike me as a DM-minded person. It has basically nothing with advocating for players, and instead everything to do with advocating against them.
Approaching it this was as a player? Or in general? I got the jist earlier that you don't typically GM?
I do like this approach.
You're definitely correct if you're describing the way things were in prior editions. I'm not as sure things are STILL that way, based on what they did with 5e...
I'd go see about mooching off of Paizo's Skull and Shackles campaign. The player's guide is a freebie, for example. I wouldn't go so far as to purchase the whole AP unless you just thought you loved what you found. But this forum, for example, could be a gold mine...
pemerton - Can't go online right now, so I'll just hit the highlights.
Gygax didn't influence as much of 5e as you think he did. I think 3e exemplifies your point much better, but we have to agree that at least some of what 5e did was to get away from that idea.
Some metagaming is expected...
What's your point? Optimizing is awesome because Bob insulted board games? What?
Golarion is a kitchen sink setting. Lisa made sure it would be when she discovered that TSR lost money every time they launched a new world. It draws on real world themes and common mythology to ensure there's...
You'd have a great point if I didn't play them myself. Except I do. And I love board games, just not as much as RPGs. Sorry if that's hard to grok.
5e doesn't even include the grid, so a 2:1 ratio of 'tactical' play is going to be a bit rough. Not all combat must be tactical, just as your...
Which of my players told you that I don't listen to them?
Which one said that they spend hours in combats not doing anything effective?
Who said I don't care?
And finally, what does this have to do with being 'the best'? Do you not see a gap between 'nobody listens to me' and 'I am not the...
You're honestly comparing my lack of empathy for inanimate objects to your lack of empathy for actual people? And this says something about ME?
You're trying to make this about me. This isn't about me, other than my opinions. You asked what I would say and I told you. There's no 'one true...
