Wood elves? That's weird. They're really more of the "sit in their forest with their stolen children, avoid Chris Hanson, and kill anyone who steps on a twig" kind of people rather than "roam around seeking fortune and fame".
If this was one of their board games or something, I'd be all for it. For instance, I'm really looking forward to Chaos In the Old World. Being able to play as Nurgle? Hell yes.
This though, for the follow-up to a great RPG system? This seems...weird. And unnecessary. Plus the $100 pricetag...
Maybe I'm crazy, but how do you make another monster after you've made one? I just close it and open it again (after saving) because I haven't spotted a way to just make another monster or edit one.
Edit: Also, is there a way to apply a template to a monster? Sometimes you just really want to...
Hooray! I can't wait to see them shoehorn in dragonborn and tieflings, axe thri-kreen as a playable race (too weird!), and civilize the halflings (can't have our free-spirited nomad race made into cannibals, now can we?).
Sword & Sorcery did a monster like those in one of their monster compendiums. I'll see if I can find it, if you want.
On a (somewhat) related note to the topic at hand, where should I start with books about Fafhrd and Grey Mouser? Are there any omnibuses I should look for?
You give religious people far too much credit.
Hey, which part of "no religion" was unclear? You've just insulted a ton of people. Please don't make crass generalizations, particularly when it's about a topic that we prefer not to discuss at this site. Thanks ~ Piratecat
The thing you seem to be missing is that despite those facts about Ravenloft, I am sure they are more than willing to jam that square peg into a round hole and change things to make it fit 4th Edition, much like they did to Forgotten Realms.
He's had a few other D&D references before. In two different segments, he mentioned manticores and centaurs, and the pictures accompanying both quotes were the respective monster from the 2ed Edition Monster Manual.
I am not quite sure where you're coming from here. All one of your players (or anyone else's) would have to do to ruin the whole "magic items are special secrets" would be to read your DMG when you weren't looking. Or look at their own. Or look at one in a book store. If a player is going to...
I think a whole different post could be filled with just complaints about the names. And probably rightfully so.
Nothing but verbnoun/nounverbs as far as the eye can see.
