Well said! From basic to 4e, it's all D&D. These edition wars are just silly, wasting a lot of time. Play what you like and how you like. There's room for all.
I said $300-500, which in retrospect might be a bit overstated since I've gotten hooked on Castles & Crusades and don't see myself purchasing much outside of that game system. (Troll Lords might have enough stuff out in 2009 for me to hit that $300 threshold -- we'll see.) Frankly, Pathfinder...
I start my games seated at the dining room table behind two full-size DM screens. And I'm usually planted back there until those famous words are uttered: "Roll for initiative."
Then, I'm standing for the combat because I have to draw the combat map and watch the minis and I can't see...
Serpent Amphora modeule three question...
The third module in the Serpent Amphora series appears to be missing the stat blocks for the cultists building the Wickerman. What would you recommend?
Another option, although an expensive one
I know you mentioned cheap, and my suggestion won't apply, but I can't help but mention my new favorite alternative to battlemats and overhead projector pens that require trips to the sink (to wet the paper towel) to erase.

Looking for a game...
I'm a Franklin resident (and I commute daily to Racine so the trip is no big deal) and I'd be interested in joining a new D&D 3.5e gaming group. I'm currently DMing a once-a-month 3.5e game (and plan to continue that). Since it's only once a month, I've been looking for an...
The Scarred Lands is Sword & Sorcery's (the folks that put out Creature Collection and Relics & Rituals) campaign setting. In a nutshell, it's 150 years after a big war between Gods and Titans. The landscape is still, well, scarred. There's titanspawn prowling the continent. Civilization is well...
Thanks for the Gurnee gaming offer. It's probably a bit further than I'd want to drive -- unless I really can't find any other people closer to our new home.
New game
A monthly game would be perfect for me and I'm very willing to DM (especially considering my investment in Scarred Lands setting books.) Why don't you email me at bkillackey@hotmail.com and we can discuss details. I'm now just three weeks away from moving into our home in Franklin.
Within several weeks, I will be relocating to Franklin, Wis. (just southwest of Milwaukee) from the Twin Cities -- and this will spell the end of my current gaming groups (DMing a Scarred Lands campaign/playing in a Greyhawk campaign, both monthly games.)
I'm hoping there are other adult D&D 3e...
