    OD&D First Character Death

Back in high school I had a half giant gladiator in dark sun. He was bitten in half by a black dracolich he had 1 hitpoint remaining, passed a constitution check with a natural 20. Dm gave him a final strike with his twin scythes 2 more nat 20s. He ripped through the dracolich's jaw they both...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

Coroc, I do agree that the style irl is better suited to 2 light weapons or a light/medium. I have addressed the stances, you're either using your secondary weapon to augment your offense or defense, this is not a choice you get to make whenever, but only at the beginning of your attack action...

    D&D 5E Consensus about two-weapon fighting?

I did edit it on a different thread to not be allowed for heavy armor, thematically a heavy armor wearing person could not possibly have the range of motion required to move in ways this style requires. Also note that the player will not always be using the parry stance, in fact most would...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

I get what you're saying, but at the same time that "extra attack" becomes obsolete once other class features become available, while the other fighting styles maintain their bonuses. My addition allows for a bit of flair without breaking the game. The player can get more out of it personally...

Where can I find your proposal? I'm trying to look at other options as well

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

Thank you As for Dex or str twf I don't see it being an issue with damage, for the most part it just narrows your weapon choices, but Dex is the preferred option (but far from the only option) for TWF builds. As for the feats: yes your TWF will begin to pull ahead of S&B with a d8 weapon, but...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

I want a fighting style many people enjoy to retain it's relevance beyond level 11. If you look at my numbers, w/o using the bonus action attack it is even with S&B with the BA it is just below GWF, so assuming a TWF uses it once every 3 turns it should fall squarely in the middle on a damage...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

    1. The same thing that happens for other styles 2/3. My purpose wasn't to be better than GWF, but to balance TWF where it should be, between S&B and GWF. Also, seeing as I did not give the TWF additional attack rolls, the bonus given by stats would be pretty static. Yes their bonus action...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

    Did the math GWF using greatsword (2d6=8.33) S&B using longsword (1d8+2=6.5) TWF using shortsword (1d6=3.5) Assuming an ability modifier of +3 GWF 1-4: 8.33+3=11.33 5-10: 11.33×2=22.66 11-19: 11.33×3=33.99 20: 11.33×4= 45.32 S&B 1-4: 6.5+3=9.5 5-10: 9.5×2=19 11-19: 9.5×3=28.5 20: 9.5×4=38...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

You're absolutely correct. It fits its niche, still seems they could have given a defensive fighter more than just +1 ac. Perhaps defensive and protection should be one style, it is fitting. However that +1 ac is always there, you don't have to use a bonus action to make yourself more tanky, gwf...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

Honestly defensive style is very weak, as well. That, to me, should scale with type of armor. (Ie. Medium or heavy armor only +1 for medium +2 for heavy.) To be fair I don't believe many people take this unless it is a second fighting style chosen because you have the option and nothing else...

    D&D 5E Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

I would possibly adjust it to ac vs melee, or restrict it from heavy armor use, but remember that ac bonus comes at the expense of damage output, thus it would likely be used at best 50% of the time. Which means you're focus is on deflecting incoming blows as opposed to a sword and board fighter...
