    Mass Combat

OOooOOO All some good ideas here, though some of the ones I've been looking at in particular have come here - like Mr. Doyle's rules for morale and such at his blog. I've also considered digging out my Battletech rules, and simplify them as well - has some good potential therin for mass...

    Mass Combat

I've been looking into mass combat, because my group likes to get into armies from time to time. In 3rd ed, Heroes of Battle was a godsend, but harder to translate to 4th edition (oddly enough) outside of the rank point structure that is available -- I've been looking at Hard Boiled Ideas...

Breaking down the wall: adding conditions to bypass enemies.

Well, athletics often goes in line with feats of strength beyond a bare bones strength check - hence why I figured it, and yeah I could see adding a +5 to reflex save to make it more difficult

Evil Campaigns: How do you feel about them?

I'm certain I'm reiterating someone at some point, in some of this, but I'll at least say I agree with most of the responses of evil campaigns not being preferable. I've run a few evil campaigns, to a Black Spiral game for Werewolf The Apocalypes, Super-villains in the DC Universe game from WEG...

I'm in frank agreement here. My own players have learned that sometimes it's alright to expect it all to be done, and other times they know they need to think like a chess player. In 3rd ed, I'd created a villain who was on a Monk basis, and so used Anti-magic field creating devices to similar...

How long, in real time, would you expect a campaign from 1-30 to take?

Well, the group I run with, we finished our first 4E campaign around July... from 1 to 30 and a couple of level 30 sessions, all in all about 1 1/2 years.

Breaking down the wall: adding conditions to bypass enemies.

One potential idea, as well, for moving past enemies in 4E is to have an athletics or acrobatics check as part of the movement. Athletics vs Fortitude to, effectively, do the ol' juke and dive to get around the enemy like a football quarterback. Acrobatics vs Reflex would be for the more...
