Not to step on any of your hard work, but I did experiment a little with the pdfs. I imported them into GIMP and carefully removed your painstakingly created backgrounds (because I clearly have too much time on my hands). I then printed them to transparency. I wasn't sure if they would turn...

My only comment about these types of devices is the importance of flexibility. I haven't seen the Battle Box, so I can't speak to it, but someone mentioned transparent effects. I would suggest that all accessories should be transparent, so as to eliminate the need to match the backgrounds...
