Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Why good publicity for Goodman Games? Very obvious that they did not consider what they were doing and they scrambled to come up with a PR stunt. They are paying off social obligations / debts for a Nazi sympathizer at best.

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

All the royalties did. They are being used to pay off the debt owed to the previous backers but this is basically paying them. It aslo gave them publicity plus their IP is being talked about.

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

I grew up in Brossard and lived there until I moved to the USA in my mid-20's. I was an accounting major, so unless we bumped into each other at Hobby World or you happened to take Creative Writing downtown in fall 1986, we probably did not meet then. I bought lots of RPG things at Hobby World...

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

I went to Loyola HS down the street from it (and later Concordia). I even worked there a little on Friday evenings and some Saturdays as the owners were observent enough to not work during those hours. Possible I was there behind the counter on those days in 1985 and 86 (my last year I did...

    General DCC RPG thread

There are a lot of 3rd party DCC and others that do good work. And I have so much content already for DCC that I don’t need much more. Just very unfortunate that they made the choice.

    General DCC RPG thread

My Thracia books (5e and DCC) arrived. Somewhat bittersweet as I am planning on stepping away from Goodman Games because of City State.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

Not quite paused. More like reduced and the reduction set to expire in 90 days. There still is at least +30% from when the new tariffs started.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Well, I owned the original when it came out (and a few other JG products). I did not like it much and gave it away ages ago, so this was not on my list to buy anyways. Otherwise I thought it was very poorly handled by Goodman Games.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

Lithuania (part of the EU) is a major printing site. UK (Games Workshop) has extensive injection molding capabilities for miniature production. I think Poland has a lot of ability to produce games as well. Not sure what point you are making about languages, I speak and read French pretty well...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

That point is a nice top level comment but not applicable to printing in the USA (or Canada) as there is ample raw materials there. Other than the cost advantage, and it can be argued that it is not a natural advantage, there is no good reason why printing cannot be done in the USA. Other than...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

This is not a response to mod comment (other than to be more specific with my point), and not political. There is a basic issue where trade around basic manufacturing is tilted too far to one country. And with AI quite potentially biting into service jobs like programming, a more pure service...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

I am Canadian and moved to the USA as an adult and eventually became a US Citizen. I lived in Asia twice (China for the longest). I travelled and worked in the UK and central Europe and I speak French well. Blanket statements about how much the USA was liked and trusted are at best wishful...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

There are more than a few lawsuits challenging the tariffs, and there were in the past before. They have not gained much traction yet and for the most part the courts have deferred to Congress which granted the President the powers being exercised. Congress does have the ability to end them if...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

Montreal is my home city (and actually was back there very recently and got to see the Habs win at the Centre Bell on a Saturday night so I am even more fond of it now). Quebecor is a well established and large printing company and I have had businesses use them for printing but not for books...
