    Harniacs vs. d20/D&D players

You may be laughing now, but I bet that if any of you tried to play Rolemaster for any length of time, your 2 and 3-digit arithmetic skills would improve significantly. Call me an elitist if you want, but it's a fact that I never get shortchanged at the cash register any more. I doubt Harn has...

Would you pay for a new, original campaign setting?

If you're looking for something that goes beyond traditional fantasy, you might check out Shadow World. It's for Rolemaster, but it's well-done and you should be able to convert it fairly easily. Some DMs have already done part of the work (prestige classes, etc.) In any even, it has its roots...

what makes a system encourage roleplaying not "rollplaying"

Say whatever you want, but the fact is that D&D is focused on fighting. The designers themselves are upfront about it. If D&D was about cooking contests, there would be tons of rules about the subject of cooking. There would be tons of spells and skills and feats that deal with culinary...

    Non-D20 popular here?

Rolemaster and Space Master (the late 80's editions) remain my favorite games so far. The system is actually simpler than D&D 3e, though it involves more bookeeping (you have to lookup on tables, track wounds, etc.) But for me it's well worth the effort since it's more scalable and open-ended...

    D20 taking over?

Kaptain_Kantrip said: << I agree 100%. With the OGL, a whole new level of support by third parties is possible where before none existed. The system that is the most open and supported eventually will win, hands down. d20 can do anything the other systems can do. It may require a tweak...

    Good Non d20 systems?

Rolemaster (and Space Master) is still around. ICE is actually in the process of releasing new sourcebooks and there are rumors of a new edition in the future... Which is just as well as I never liked RMSS and have so far stuck with 2nd edition.

Epic Level: Worse than Role Master ?

Interesting. I'll first say that D&D 3e is by far not my favorite game. I consider Basic D&D (the Rules Cyclopedia edition) to be the best D&D so far. I tend to prefer rules-light games over complex ones. For that reason, I also prefer the old edition of Rolemaster (RM2) over the new one, as...
