    Darkvision through a telescope

Would you say the same thing for a human with a spyglass and a torch in complete darkness? I think the question becomes how much real world vision and optics do you let into the game. My view is to keep it simple and ignore any possibility of range increases for both normal vision and...

    Darkvision through a telescope

The same except different... Darkvision does function like normal vision except for color...and limited range. Since the discussion is about the spyglass affecting the range of vision, let's make darkvision and normal vision more equatable. A human is surrounded in complete darkness with a...

HELP: Do Damaged flying creatures lose ability to fly?

The rules are fine, but feel incomplete. Why draw the line at just flyers? If I can take out a dragon's wings, why can't I cripple the evil monk with a 50' land speed?

    Flanking with a ranged weapon?

Here is a list of activities a rogue with a bow can take advantage of; as these all deny a Dex bonus: The opponent is balancing, climbing, running, blinded, cowering, flat-footed, grappling, stunned, squeezing through a space less than half its size, or lifting double its maximum load. The...

    Gelatinous cube tpk

If "you" are the G^3, you could grapple 8 M-sized creatures. *edit* Doh! Nail beat me to it!

    About initiative

What if the fighter kicking down the door was replaced by a wizard teleporting a party into the room? Would the casting be during the surprise round as well?

Grapple, Iterative BAB attacks and secondary natural attacks

The closest I can come regarding grapple is that starting a grapple implies you are using your BAB, not natural weapons. Pretty weak, though.

    Wall of Fire Spell

I agree two Solid Fog spells would not stack regarding the movement penalty. How about the -2 to melee attack and damage rolls? Do these stack when they have identical points of origin? What about if the spells are centered inches apart?

    Wall of Fire Spell

Okay. Going that route, it would seem applying the "differing strengths" rule to areas would lead to strange results. Would two Solid Fogs that have the same exact point of origin not stack, while one two inches away from the other stack? Seems like a gaping loophole, no?

    Wall of Fire Spell

The SRD doesn't seem to require identical areas, just overlapping. At least, that's how I read "operating in the same area" in the quote below (emphasis mine).

Improved Unarmed Strike and 2H weapons

For what it's worth, here's what the 3.0 FAQ had to say about it:

Is casting a spell with the Evil descriptor an Evil act?

I suppose that depends if you think Holy special ability is referencing evil alignment or the [Evil] descriptor. In Summon Monster I, how do you know that they mean evilly aligned creature and not [Evil] subtype creature? Is the spell lumping in spell descriptors with alignment categories in...

Is casting a spell with the Evil descriptor an Evil act?

I used to think that, but a more careful reading pushed me the other way. A different justification for the table would be to tell you the alignment of the monster since the Fiendish template doesn't - it only specifies "Always Evil (any)". How else is one to determine the alignment of a...

Is casting a spell with the Evil descriptor an Evil act?

Does casting that spell even have an [Evil] descriptor? I thought the reference to "evil" in the Summon Monster descriptions referred to the [Evil] creature subtype. I realize the summoned weasel would have an evil alignment, but would it be an [Evil] creature? I don't see anything in the...

    Get pedantic on Feeblemind

There is no such thing as a "fifth level instantaneous effect." This limitation is only if the effect is derived from a spell. Below are the relevant snippets. Emphasis mine.
