What magic system that uses some form of power points (e.g. casting spell x costs 3 points) is your favorite?

I tend to like (mostly) various editions of the Talislanta magic system, which uses a casting roll with an increasing penalty (iirc, -1 per previous spell cast that day, but if you critically succeed on the casting roll, that casting doesn't increase the penalty). It also divided spells into...

Pathfinder 2E Newbie with question about Flexible spellcasting with Wizard

Here are my best answers for your questions; I'm new to Pathfinder, myself, but I've been reading it on and off since 2e was released, with a definite uptick since about War of Immortals or maybe Rage of Elements. Does Spell Blending work with the Witch spell slots? It should, though you can't...

It's Time To Vote For 2025's Most Anticipated TTRPGs!

Starfinder 2E Outgunned Adventure DC20 Honorable mention (would've voted if I'd had four choices): Legends in the Mist

Which game has your favorite magic system?

I enjoyed reading about the Talislanta (4e) magic system. In it, you have Orders, which are like traditions of magic. They grant access to (and have bonuses and penalties that apply to) Modes, which are broad effect categories (Move, Attack, Defend, Heal, etc.). Some Orders may have no access to...

D&D General D&D without resource management

Yeah. Part of the character build is spreading the triggers out so you have something you can do on various rolls. Also, if I recall correctly, a half-elf (?) can treat their d20 roll as if it were one less than its actual value, tweaking the "natural" roll scored. Choosing to possibly lower...

D&D General D&D without resource management

On the hit points issue, something like Mutants and Masterminds with its Toughness/Damage save might be worth looking into. I don't know how well it would fit what you are looking for, though. You aren't tracking a resource, then, but you are tracking a potential cumulative penalty to further...

D&D 5E Let’s Read Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

A couple thoughts: Great for the (forthcoming, I'm sure) Cowboy (fighter) and Rustler (rogue) subclasses. Boot Hill 5E confirmed! Wizards acquired Deadlands: The Weird West? I'll just be mooo-ving along, now. In all seriousness, thanks to the OP for the work and insights. :)

D&D 4E Resuming and Concluding my Epic 4e Campaign

Wow; long delay. Sorry about that. I'll try to not disappear. Just getting behind on other things. At least I'm playing the actual campaign. We are about halfway through level 28. But this story has some catching up to do. Here's a small dose. I hope readers enjoy it. Level 11 (in my notes...

D&D 5E Why does no one play Goliath?

Like some of the other posters, I am playing a goliath in a Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign. Mine is a paladin (now level 4, Oath of Devotion). He worships Lathander/Amaunator. I haven't seen any others play goliaths, though I've an admittedly small sample size.
