I've been playing D&D longer than I haven't, and I have a bit of free time in the week. I like to run, and love to play. I enjoy playing characters that are good at their role (or at least good at a Thing) who are also interesting and fun for my group to interact with. I use my powers of system mastery ("optimization" for the young folk, min/maxing for us grognards) for Good (which to me means fun for all), not for DM/player headaches (or to "win" for that matter).
My DMing style is very fast and loose. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants, and my goal is fun for all. That being said, when I do plan stuff it does come out pretty awesome (if I do say so myself... Which, well, I do
).
Dickheads and Blowhards need not apply. If I think you're a bully or a jerk I'll call you out as such. I'm here to game, not to fight, though I do not suffer fools. I work in a rough, sometimes violent profession, and I only want to deal with nice folks on my days off.
I speak fluent Grognard and Newbie. My D&D expertise includes 2nd and 5th, though I'm at least passingly familiar with all editions (and can find merit and fault with them all. Even 4th). Non D&D experience includes Old World of Darkness, some Shadowrun (newer editions, though I'm open to older ones and love the Shadowrun lore/worldbuilding). If you want to game with me, and run a system that I'm not familiar with, I'll be happy to learn (and am a quick study to boot).
I will also note that I LOVE to teach the systems I know, and am very fond of introducing new players. Don't let my gaming experience or direct manner put you off, I'm very nice and very much enjoy teaching new players the awesomness that is D&D. New players please do apply!
I do have a group that I game with on the regular. They are very good friends of mine, and are very nice. If you're looking for a group we may be willing to include you! The same rules that apply for interacting with all humans apply to interacting with our group: Don't be creepy, and don't be an. A crude sense of humor isn't required per say, but it will definitely enhance your experience.
LGBTQ+ acceptance is required. Racists need not apply. Nazi's will be punched liberally. Again I state: Don't be an or a bully.
