Level Up (A5E) Did the Aspirant Cleric Get a Stealth Errata?

While running today's Level Up game, my wife (who co-DMs with me on this game but plays an Aspirant cleric in my other campaign) realised that our player running an Aspirant cleric had much weaker abilities than she remembered. The current version of the archetype on a5e.tools says that Fighting...

What does it take for an RPG to die?

One example of a dead game in my experience is Continuum: Roleplaying in the yet. It was an already niche game from the start, its one planned splatbook never got published as far as I know, and I never see the game being discussed.

    Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again (Spoilers)

They are, and we find out about this in She Hulk of all places! My wife and I recently re-watched the Daredevil relevant bits of She Hulk after liking Born Again so much and my goodness, it was bad. I'm very happy MCU realised their lighter take on Matt wouldn't work and returned to something...

    GM no-roll

I think the GM never rolling would only work in systems specifically designed for that (like all the PbtA variants). If the game system normally assumes both sides will roll dice, it's for a good reason, and the GM losing that probabilistic variety will rob the table of interesting moments.

D&D General Favorite Iconic D&D Metropolis

I really don't think Sigil should've been disqualified, so I voted Other. It's unique to D&D and I quite like the premise of a philosophical neutral ground as a city with many factions. The closest thing to it is Ravnica in Magic: The Gathering, where I think Ravnica has better cohesion, but...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

I posted a very similar thread two years ago, and while I agree with your grievances, I really don't think trying to simulate languages naturally is a good task for most TTRPG groups. People just aren't interested in that kind of language geekery, the amount of worldbuilding it requires is too...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

Huh, I must've missed that UA. Does that mean the infusion system is definitely gone in 5.5e?

    Old School Essentials

The Incandescent Grottoes has some minor issues, but overall I think it's a very fun low-level dungeon. Also, I have to say I love OSE's layout as a no-nonsense rules reference book. Though I think Dolmenwood is better in terms of being accessible to non-OSR players. The OSE rendition of B/X...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

Is it me or did they completely change the infusion system with replicate magic item? I couldn't see that feature, but I also didn't see any mention of infusions being removed.

D&D (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

I voted for Preference and Familiarity. I actually like D&D and its unique stuff compared to other systems - Vancian magic, turn-based combat, levels and all. But also familiarity - I've been running 5e since 2015 so it's easy for me to eyeball stuff for it, and even with OSR the common DNA...

D&D 5E Dungeoncraft Interview with Mike Mearls

I thought this point was already settled in the "Whatever happened with 4E" panel thread, but then I saw people saying things such as "the person who spoke during that panel is a hack of a historian so the point was obviously not true (???)", so while I'm hoping we can stop re-litigating at...

D&D 5E Dungeoncraft Interview with Mike Mearls

WoW (especially during the Classic era) had a lot of mechanics that felt like old-school D&D, things like some spells needing reagents and training being a costly thing and stuff like Paladins and Druids getting their unique skills like Wild Shapes and Summon Steeds through challenging...

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

I agree with this, and I think the poll is a bit oddly designed in that regard: I would've preferred if "I will continue to play 2014 5E" and "I will continue to play 2024 5E" were different options, since there is considerable difference between the two (not just mechanics-wise, but also...

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

I mean, the forums have 245000 members in total, while only 123 people responded to this poll. So the sample probably isn't very representative (on top of it being in TTRPG General which skews extra-D&D, as two other people pointed out before me).

    Daggerheart Release Date Revealed

Do we know if Exandria will be one of the six campaign frames? It seems likely to me given how Campaign 3 recently ended, and to say it without spoilers, seems to be pushing the game away from the classic D&D framework...
