Hi all. I'm running for an Ennie's judge spot for 2019. I don't have a blog out there and I don't start too many threads, so I figure this is a good chance to ask me anything(except for favors; those get me disqualified). System and design questions, kickstarter preferences, obscure rpg trivia...
Some really excellent picks this year. Particularly excited to see The Dark of Hot Springs Island, Harlem Unbound, Bluebeard's Bride and Red Markets be recognized in their respective categories, but congratulations to all the nominees.
I’m with you as far as 3.0 combat prep. But I think this is a horizontal segmentation issue. Some people want monsters as player characters, some want unique non universally applicable abilities and rarely shall the twain meet. I’m curious to see if they find a good balance to keep their player...
Random string of quick impressions:
Wow is that long. Feels like a lot of information that won't be useful at the table.
I like the use of modifiers instead of ability scores(can we finally kill off ability scores?).
The use of "gamey" terminology has increased. Starting to remind me of old...
That mockup cover for psionics unleashed is the same cover by Tithi Luadthong used for Legacy: Life Among the Ruins. I don’t see any attribution on the kickstarter page...anyone involved know whats up?
Moniker is the creator of Zweihander. And while I probably like that game more than you it significantly lowers my opinion of the whole project when the creator jumps on random threads trying to promote it by throwing shade at the competition.
It especially rings false given Cubicle 7 has a...
There's been basically no information about the design of the game, and no news in months. The cubicle7 site says this
"Design lead Dominic McDowall is on hand to tell us about the game’s development:“The initial plan was to make some small updates to the awesome second edition, and that would...
I appreciate that! I missed a number, or misnumbered...this is what I get for not clicking Preview Post.
For the dagger, I think you would just use a point to activate it at use and then that would last....until rest? From the way they described it, its a refresh point pool at rest so I would...
From my understanding the way it works is:
1 point to activate a passive magic item at the beginning of the day for the day.
1 point to use an activated ability from a magic item(if you had a sword that could do a flame blast or a helm of mind reading etc)
1 point to activate limited use items...
Context on the divisive comment. After 12 pages and well over 500 comments, there appear to be 3 camps on the paizo forum when it comes to resonance: Resonance is good for all the reasons of simplification Paizo say. Resonance is bad because it attacks the symptoms and not the core system...
Exactly. Thematically potions doing nothing when you drink them without some kind of limited use mystical bond seems...bizarre. Every class is suddenly a magic class.
I think you’re right about limited carry being a good solution.
On further thought I have to agree with the other comments. More expensive wands with lower max charge, or a charges per day limit seems like a more elegant solution.
Potions still make no sense to me.
