I'm an old school player( The old red and blue box D&D, 2nd edition AD&D, CP 2020, Shadowrun, Tunnels and Trolls, Warhammer 40K and Dungeoneer AFF(Advanced fighting fantasy to those who remember a wonderfully cheap, creative and fun system) who actually quit playing around 14 years ago.
In the lead up to Xmas 2010 I was in Waterstones, a massive book shop on Piccadilly when i saw the red box on a display table. I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. Within a week i'd bought the entire essentials line and the fourth Ed core books. A month after that I had found a store that ran encounters attended and have since played in various gaming groups.
I'm glad to be back in the game.
I try to get to one game a week, which is difficult with a variable work pattern. I like D&D Encounters, its quick and fun, and has introduced me to alot of people i game with outside the game store ( Dark Sphere, its near Waterloo station and is the only place runing encounters in London!!!). These gaming introductions have become good mates and have made me welcome in the local gaming community.
