Dungeons & Dragons Announces Horror Subclasses Unearthed Arcana

I have been frustrated that classic shadow spells have been so absent, almost like they were deliberately saving them for a supplement that never happened. I get that shadow conjuration and evocation were too broad for 5e but I have seen some fan content, which used class features to try and...

D&D (2024) Sage Advice Compendium Updated To 2024

I have always hated the notion that rogues can double dash. They're already incredibly mobile and I would prefer them to use their bonus action imaginatively. The cinematic tradition is pulling over a stall of melons to create difficult terrain, not sprint like Usain Bolt. There are other ways...

D&D (2024) Current Stealth Rule Actually Works As Is. If Moving Out of Cover After Hiding Makes Enemies Immediately "Finds You", Hide Would Be Totally UNUSABLE.

The change was clearly brought in to overcome the notion that you can be seen by everyone as soon as you break cover rather than allowing the obvious trope of being able to sneak up behind people or past distracted people. They should have put in a small amount of clarification. You can...

D&D (2024) Current Stealth Rule Actually Works As Is. If Moving Out of Cover After Hiding Makes Enemies Immediately "Finds You", Hide Would Be Totally UNUSABLE.

Most monsters are not that hard to find. I do think there is design space for rebalancing the passive scores. I would say anyone performing any other task while exploring, such as moving stealthily, should be base 5. Not allowing expertise bonuses on passive scores would help, and allowing...

D&D (2024) Do you like the Purple Dragon Knight Subclass?

As long as the banneret gets a similar revamp to give it warlord themed manoeuvres, I'm fine with them diverging.

Level Up Gateway My attempt at an Aragorn!

I think he was technically a half-elf, or at least 1e D&D based half-elf life spans on Aragorn and the long-lived Numenorians.

    D&D (2024) The Lackluster Ranger

Yes I will probably treat myself to a set for my birthday. We have one fighter/ranger/barbarian who multiclassed because the 5e barbarian was too basic but he seems non-plussed about converting to A5E with all the manoeuvres. Apart from that, we just have a few level 2 and 3 multiclass...

    D&D (2024) The Lackluster Ranger

I am really enjoying the extra combat options in level up (basic damage alone has seen a spike in pushing tactics) and ways that expertise opens up tactics and passable skill rolls for non rogues. I'm more nervous about baking manoeuvres into the martial classes because it seems that the...

D&D (2024) Should full casters and Monks have one weapon mastery?

Personally, I think only Rangers and Fighters should get weapon masteries as class features. Everyone else should be able to pick one up as a feat and those with the mastery feature should have a feat for adding a second mastery to a weapon as per the playtest.

D&D (2024) Rules Clarification: Fighting Style Feats

Of course, you don't have build npcs like characters. You can emulate classes in several ways. Giving the npc above average hp, heavy armour, weapon masteries, and multi-attack might be all you need to do but you could also throw in a fighting style, a battlemaster manoeuvre, or improved crit...

    D&D General Greyhawk Humanocentricism?

We are moving towards the end game after 34 years, sort of accidentally merging the plots with Iuz, Vecna, Kyuss, the Earth Dragon, Acererak, Yolande, and Tharizdun are all trying to gather up enough energy to ascend or alter reality. The PCs are sort of meandering through the various plots and...

    D&D General Greyhawk Humanocentricism?

More important than all of this (to me) is why, in this age of revisionism, is Kermin Mindbender repeatedly statted as a wizard? Phenomenal mental abilities. Power to mind blast. Scours the countryside looking for innate talent. Come on guys! Or am I the crazy one?

    D&D General Greyhawk Humanocentricism?

Warforged exist in Blackmoor. Also potentially anyone who has found the Unoerthly Cave and sold on or activated stolen tech.

    D&D General Greyhawk Humanocentricism?

The Celestial Kingdom is an ideal place to put dragonborn. I just introduced them as part of Resbin Dren's elite bodyguard from Zahind. It's not hard to feature the 'non-standard' heritages, it's just hard to feature them as anything more that a small or isolated group or population from the...

D&D 5E Give me ideas for a really simple boost to martial characters [2014]

    Yes! Although I don't think that's practical in 5e!
