I run narrative games and use xp. I am old school and when temple of elemental evil said 1-8 it meant it would take the PVs from first to eight. When Fate of Istus said it had adventures for first to eighth it meant you had to fill in the gaps between adventures. Alternately, you could milestone...
Milestone levelling is just a marketing gimmick that allows them to claim an adventure goes X levels then give paper thin adventures and act like they gave you substance. It's false advertising and why I stopped buying their adventures.
Oh don't start that "bent out of shape" nonsense. YOU made the false claim that DL doesn't contradict earlier lore. Just admit you're wrong, it does. Wait, actually, you just did.
You mean except good clerics entering the world before Goldmoon retrieves the Disks? There was a lot more, but right now I'm not going to go dig it up.
How about letting the PCs find a dragonlance? Wasn't finding one and then learning how to forge new ones the ENTIRE POINT of the original...
"2. Dragonlance specifically doesn't contradict earlier lore. That's the whole point of the module."
What? I had to rewrite so much of that module for violating canon. SotDQ is terrible at lore.
Here's a thing I did to my 5e players: Took them to Greyhawk, where vampires drain levels, Rings of Protection have multiple plusses and poison is save or die.
They loved it.
What does that say?
I'm sorry you were triggered, but Dragonlance seems to have been too subtle for some. The people being made fools of were those who discounted Fizban because of their biased ageism. Like many things in DL (Gully dwarves, for instance), the point is that those who think someone is lesser are...
IF by zeitgeist you mean Michael Moorcock in the 1950's with his Eternal Champion and Elric of Melnibone novels, then sure, whatever. Multiverse has always been part of fantasy roleplaying.
I sure hope they don't do like in Shadow of the Dragon Queen and just tell the DM to level up the PCs whether they had enough xp or not. I refused to do this and when we got to the 11th level adventure, the party was all 4-6th from xp.
I was promised a campaign from 1st to 10th and they...
I and my group of 6 players have happily used Roll20 for years with no problem. We don't play a lot of 5e but that has great support as do a vast array of other systems.
Looking forward to seeing the upgrades
