    Wizard Specialization [Rant]

The Problem with the Necromancy School . . . is that it tries to both be a "School" and a Descriptor as Negative Energy. Some Necromancy spells look like Enchantment spells in that they affect the mind -- Fear. Some Necromancy spells seem to be Conjuration/Creation spells and...

    Wizard Specialization [Rant]

School Specialization. I see School Specialization as a necessary evil for wizards. The bread and butter of wizards is spellcasting. They cannot do much else at earlier levels, unlike divine casters, who can also fight reasonably well. So the extra spell slots from school specialization are...

    Wizard Specialization [Rant]

In essence .. . If I want to play a classic blaster wizard, then I would probably take the Divination school as the Speciality and then eliminate Necromancy - giving the most versatile spell selection and allowing the wizard to always have a divination spell in reserve (which are always...

    Wizard Specialization [Rant]

I have the following suggestion: Just drop the School Specialization restrictions and allow a Favored School for wizards like Domains for clerics. . . The Favored School is chosen at 1st level. Why? The restrictions on School Specialization (loss of 2 schools usually) outweigh the benefit...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Eldritch knight abilities?

What I would like to see is a 20 level core class that combines the abilities of the fighter, sorcerer, and spellsword. Call it an Eldritch Knight. I would be fine with the same spell progression as the bard up to level 6 spells. The spell list would be oriented towards invocation, abjuration...

    New haste on WotC website!

The 3.5 Haste, IMO, is close to what I would like to see, but not quite . . . I would like to see a Haste spell that is also useful for actions other than attacking and moving. For example, if a character wants to use the benefit of haste to ready an item, stand up, or open a door, then this...

Savage template to replace Barbarian class

I like this idea. What do you think about a template for Noble too?

Swashbuckling Adventures: 7th Sea d20 review

I have picked up and read much of the Swashbuckling Adventures book. I am frankly puzzled by KK's pan of the book due to poor editing. I have found editorial/type-setting errors, however, I have not found the editing much of a problem. I have been able to read the book without difficulty...

Book of Vile Darkness is really unnecessary...

Book of Exalted Deeds My suggestion: Someone write the Book of Exalted Deeds in response. That should sell well too . . .

What do you consider the quintessential knight in shinning armor?

I have a question for you: How would you create a Quintessential Knight using the D&D Core Rules? What classes/PClasses, Skills, and Feats would you use? If you were using point buy, where would you allocate the character's Abilities? Let's assume a Human character . . .

The quest for a "Good read"!

For good rolicking heroic fantasy, I recommend: 1. David Gemmel's Drenai novels. David Gemmel's style of heroic fantasy has been compared with Robert E. Howard. 2. Simon Green's Hawk & Fisher stories. Action-packed stories with a contemporary flaire: first Blue Moon book, Swords of Haven...

    Press Release: EQ RPG

Nice Intro there. I have a question - - will the EQRPG use the magic system from the online game -- a mana point system for spells?

    And the rest is silence.

For what it's worth, here's my brief assessment of the Dusk Player's Guide. 1. The organization was in three basic sections: 1) Some background info on Telzoa, a part of the setting, 2) Lots of Rules, 3) A glossary, chronology, and calendar for the setting. My comment is that far too much...

Well, there goes the "Drizzt Clone" theory...

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't Drizzt a half-drow? If this is true, then he might not have access to the Drow natural ambidexterity, just as a half-elf does not gain the elven +1 with bow and sword (under 1st/2nd edition). This may lead to the conclusion, like it or not, that Drizzt's...

Well, there goes the "Drizzt Clone" theory...

I agree that this has been covered too much. I think that this classic argument over-analyzes the problem. What is being suggested is a fairly even swap, virtual feat for virtual feat.
