D&D (2024) What do you expect/hope to see in future playtest packets? (+)

@glass You know you can sign up for free to D&DBeyond right? You don't need to spend anything to access the playtest materials. There's really no reason not to.

D&D (2024) What do you expect/hope to see in future playtest packets? (+)

Things I'd like to see: Reintroduction of Bloodied, and effects which key off it, so that creatures (and PC) don't just have a binary status of absolutely fine or down. Meaningful character development choices beyond L3 (other than just choosing spells) - sub-sub-classes, prestige classes or...

    D&D (2024) Postmortem: 10 Ideas in 5e that didn't quite work...

I personally think that finesse weapons should use Dex to hit, but still use Str for damage. That would go a long way to making Str more useful.

    Living Campaigns

Sarbreenar certainly didn't stop when 3e came out. It ran right up to the release of 4e, and they still have occasional events.

    War Hammer 40k

There's certainly a following out there. 40k is probably the most widely played wargame around. There WILL be players in your area, but they may take a bit of finding. If you have a FLGS that's the best place to start. It sounds like you probably have the 2nd Edition starter set if it dates...

I KNEW D&D was becoming more like WOW!!1!

I'm pleased to see Meepo made it in there. :)

    WotC_Dave: Druid!

We've had a Druid in our 3/3.5 campaign. She's steadfastly refused to take the natural spell feat. While she's still the most versatile and useful member of the party due to her wide range of abilities, the choice of whether or not to go into wild shape gives her interesting tactical options...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

I always wanted to have a go at a regional module for Living Greyhawk. I had some good ideas for Onnwal regionals, but I never got around to it, and eventually fell out of playing LG. What put me off, was having to do stat-blocks, and work out CRs and ELs etc. I have never DM'd 3.0 or 3.5...

    missing skills

I think its important to bear in mind that we've only seen half a dozen pregenerated characters that were specifically created for a couple of one-off combat heavy adventures. I haven't seen anything to 100% confirm that we've seen the full skill list, or that non-adventuring skills are ignored...

    Podcast: Drow Warrior 1 Usefullness

Definitely option 2. I like encounters which feel coherent. If the party encounter a drow patrol, it's likely to include a couple of soldiers, an priestess or wizard, and some sort of sneakt scout type - pretty much like an adventuring party. While you can do that in 3.5, it's quite a lot of...

Low Damage, High HP ... How is this "Faster"?

I wouldn't be surprised if at higher levels there are some rituals which give a buff effect to participants, or something. The cleric providing a blessing before the battle and so on (which was very common in medieval warfare - just in D&D would have a mehcanical effect).

Any New Info on Skill Encounters?

I really rather like what I've heard about this resolution system. It's nice and rules light, and its fast. Nothing slows down a chase scene like counting squares on a grid. I guess it comes down to what I see as the point of a game - for a group of people to collectively have fun telling a...
