Well. It was plain that they're thinking like that for a while, but now it's official. Not going to sugarcoat, I hate this and this approach is what turned me off of WotC and 5e the most.

Well, in my eyes, the current end point of 3e's evolution which is PF1, IMO, became a nearly class-less system over time. There's just so many class archetypes, alternative class features, feats, hybrid classes and so on, that, with throwing in multiclassing too, the line between classes blurred...

Agree and with all due respect, I have to disagree with Mr. Tweet on this issue. Open multiclassing is one of the things I really-really like in 3.5 and Pathfinder. Yes, it could lead to disastrous combinations, but honestly, I don't mind. I don't see it as all of the classes should combine...

This is good. I'd buy any kind of "official" (and I deem everything that Ed particiapates in official, as long as FR goes), regional-guide-like suppelements, for the lore only, even if I'll use them with other systems. Really, anything that updates the classic settings in this way, rather than...

That's fair. However, asking for that stuff, when there isn't many isn't gateekeping either.

A thing about gatekeeping: I just hate when people call a desire for setting material, a preference for detailed setting or even preference of a crunchier system gatekeeping. Sure it might be more niche and not catering explicitely to the least common denominator, but it's not gatekeeping.

I'd say too, that it's a player type, not something exclusive to CR. There just people out there who prefer this kind of play, with interpersonal drama (an more freeform narrative weaving) and day-to-day life in the focus. It's not even dependent on the game system, though many of those people...
