Stay on Budget, Search for New Life in Elevation

M-Space, as Dirk Lancer says, is very close to Runequest and Call Of Cthulhu. It’s a roll-under percentage system with gritty combat, detailed skills and a cool conflict mechanic. The core rules come from Mythras and M-Space adapts and expands them for sci-fi. Starship design takes a modular...

Nominate The Top 10 Mobile Apps For Tabletop RPGs!

I have two favorite apps: d20 Calculator A brilliant dice roller in the shape of a calculator. I’ve tried many dice rollers but this one is easy to use and, when needed, accepts complex setups without head-scratching. Rory’s StoryCubes StoryCubes offer a nifty solution for GM improvisation...

    Dusting Up Some Odd Soot

I just saw there's a giveaway of Odd Soot and thought I would give it a shout-out. I’m not joining as I already own the book, but for anyone interested in sci-fi, the 1920s or BRP, this is a good chance to grab it for free. http://www.frostbytebooks.com/odd-soot-giveaway Highly recommended...

    Who Playtested This Anyway?

Putting together a good survey can be hard and will affect the answers you get. Are there any examples (from D&D or PF) available online?

What Game Did You Leave D&D For?

I never left D&D, simply because I never started playing it. Over the years I’ve played dozens of RPGs but not a single session of D&D, AD&D, Pathfinder, 13th Age, True20 - or any other d20 derivative.

A Generators Guide for Science Fiction RPGs

Thank you! I like the alien generator that produces a 3d model. Very cool.

RPGs like Penny Dreadful (TV show)

Call of Cthulhu might not be action oriented but Mythras (After the Vampire Wars) has a wonderful, gritty combat system. As both are BRP-based, they are easy to combine.

RPGs like Penny Dreadful (TV show)

I would also recommend Cthulhu by Gaslight. The low-level grittiness of BRP fits nicely with the theme. If you combine Cthulhu by Gaslight with After the Vampire Wars (for Mythras/BRP) you probably get pretty close. There’s also ’Hudson & Brand, Inquiry Agents of the Obscure’, published as a...

    Dusting Up Some Odd Soot

I downloaded the preview and it looks quite cool. The artwork has a lovely quirkiness to it. An interstellar plague is the perfect storytelling device. I always enjoyed investigative games, so this is right up my alley. I hope there’s more material coming out for it. The review says the book is...

Free League & Järnringen Have Merged

Combining the talent of Tales from the Loop with that of Symbaroum sounds like a match made in heaven. Looking forward to what will come of this.

Worlds of Design: Tabletop RPGs Are the Most Naturally Co-operative Games

Good points. I find it almost as bad, sometimes worse, when a game turns into GM vs. players.
