Five Takeaways From the 2025 Monster Manual

They aren't as interested in "who is playing the game" as they are "who is buying the books." And older people are likely buying more books. I am ancient by your statistics reference and I own nearly everything WotC has put out in both digital and physical form. You'd better believe they want to...

    D&D (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

This is what I plan to implement in my game. It is more generous than the 5.5 rules but I want characters to be able to use their stealth if they have invested in it. HIDING RULES When you are hidden you cannot be detected by sight or hearing, although creatures with other senses might be...

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

Look I'm a proud member of the LGBTQ+ and am pretty damn progressive by American standards. And I don't have strong feelings about Medusae or dryads. But if you know what is good for you, you will keep your filthy paws off my hags' filthy claws!! I think this section in Volo's about hags was...

    D&D (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

I'm only on page two of a 94 and counting page thread so this may have already been said. But they handled NPC spellcasters in the correct way exactly once: Candlekeep. The spells most likely to be used in combat were laid out in the same format as an attack for any other monster. The rest of...

D&D General Rerolling Initiative each Round

I was a player in a game with a more computer-savvy DM than myself who used a platform that "rolled" initiative at the top of every round. It REALLY upped the tension of combats in what I thought was a good way. Unfortunately I run using Roll20 where it would be too much work to do so.

D&D (2024) Rules that annoy you

I've been toying with the idea of all healing triggering hit dice expenditures. Haven't come up with a system I love yet. But maybe if it only applied to potions it would limit the issue of every party wandering around with dozens of healing potions in their backpacks.

D&D (2024) Rogue's Been in an Awkward Place, And This Survey Might Be Our Last Chance to Let WotC Know.

While I largely agree with the "rogues are fine if not awesome" crowd, I do think that REALLY shining when it matters (+5.5 to a failed check) has a bigger effect on the game, to say nothing of the psychological benefits, than consistent situations of "I'm generally better than you are at...
