    Non-combat encounter ideas?

Thanks, all! Definitely a few ideas up there I'll use. What I was looking for was not so much plot movers than "dungeon-dressing"-type encounters. Mundane objects, natural phenomena, etc.

    Non-combat encounter ideas?

For my own game. I was fine for ideas on the overland portion. But fell short for the dungeon crawl. * brief backstory- 3 young adventurers-in-the-making tell PCs of a dangerous, abandoned mine said to be brimming with precious metals & gems within the walls...except a strange race of humanoids...

    Non-combat encounter ideas?

Nothing makes me wanna yank my hair out than "DM's writer's block" for non-combat encounter ideas. What have we got?: puzzles terrain challenges found objects... What else?

DMG combat "To Hit" tables Q

Just curious to know how those negative values work on p.74 & 75 of the DMG on the attack matrices. For ex., on the fighter chart, a 17+ level fighter needs a -4 to hit AC 8. How's that work? Thanks.

    multiple attacks ?

It truly is cumbersome, Jester. Hate to ask this, but when someone has time, can someone write out a sample 5/4 melee? Thx again.

    multiple attacks ?

I'm looking to get back into AD&D after years of abandoning it for 3.5. It's amazing how much I've forgotten, including how multiple attacks work. How would you do 5/4 attacks? (I think I may've been confused by that even back in the day) Thx!

    fighting deities question

Just the very subject title is enough to make you chuckle. I never used (3e.) Deities & Demigods myself, but I got it recently just for kicks to flip through & saw plenty of super high, godly ACs. I wondered about the natural 20 rule- If a deity had an AC of say, 65 & a mortal PC of lower level...

Bit rusty w/ Flurry of Blows

Ok. Whew. I'm actually originally a 1st e. player who moved on to 3.5 cause I liked the updated mechanics, but *damn*...some of it is ridiculously tricky to get. (even in "simpler" Pathfinder) Combat; That's one thing I keep hoping they streamline & simplify with every new edition. (though I...

Bit rusty w/ Flurry of Blows

OH wait...A Q-staff isn't a *light* weapon. Oops. *That's* why no Finesse for him. :o Ok, so he could only use the staff to hit either once (+4 to hit) or use as a double weapon. (at -1/ -5 to hit?)

Bit rusty w/ Flurry of Blows

Holy crap. So he's not *allowed* to use W. Finesse with the Q-staff?? I figured that was legit & counted the Finesse (Dex bonus here), with BAB + Masterwork, giving me +6 to hit. Damn. Ok, now with the part where you wrote - Flurr: +1 hit (masterwork), +1 hit (Strength), +2 hit (BAB), -2 hit...

Bit rusty w/ Flurry of Blows

Yes! Will do! Thx! Just for the sake of checking, is my math right for this "To Hit" with that masterwork quarterstaff? +6 To Hit (if using it to hit once) & d20+2/ d20+0 To Hit if using it for 2 attacks? ( I looked on p. 160 of PHB on that Two-Handed Weapon table) Now, with regards to FoB...

Ooops. 3.5 No Weapon Finesse. (but he does have a masterwork Quarterstaff handy)

Bit rusty w/ Flurry of Blows

I was always a little unclear on the FoB rules for Monks. We have a 3rd level monk here. (13 Str, 14 Wis, 16 Dex) If I got this right, when this monk chooses to do FoB, he gets 2 attacks & rolls a d20 straight? No pluses or minuses? (cause I see "+0/+0") Help!
