Has anyone made a high Dex/Int Assassin with a War Magic Wizard splash?
You could get up to +5 initiative from Dex, +5 initiative from Int, and +5 initiative from Alert.
That seems like a pretty much guarantee to get critical sneak attacks every fight.
Hear's an interesting idea! Each time I level, I can replace a spell. I could replace all of the AT level 1 spells with level 2 spells and just use wizard for my selection of level 1 spells. :)
It's a level 7 character, so I already did a stat bump at 4 to get to 20 dex. I debated on a 18 dex with a feat, but I thought a bump to armor, skills, etc. was worth it.
An extra chance at a critical definitely sounds great!
Thanks for the quick reply! I want to focus on combat from stealth! lol
I've been using my bonus action to hide a lot after attacking. I've been trying to consistently deal out sneak attack damage and avoid getting attacked. If all else fails, I can dash and cast invisibility. :)
I'm thinking about taking a level of wizard on my arcane trickster.
Will that allow me to copy and prepare spells up to my arcane trickster level of spell slots? For instance, can a rogue 13/wizard 1 copy a fireball spell into his spellbook and prepare it or would it be limited to copying and...
There are 3 feats that I want on my ranged rogue. I'm just not sure what order I should take them.
It's basically 3d20 sneak attack rolls vs ignoring 1/2 and 3/4 cover vs not being revealed on a missed attack.
I wouldn't use the extra damage option of sharpshooter, unless I already had elven...
Im going with Arcane Trickster. I like the utility of spells over the one shot critical of Assassin. The sharpshooter is more for the ability to ignore 1/2 and 3/4 cover (+2 or +5 to AC is huge!) and use the full range of a longbow with advantage. I agree with you on max Dex. I'm leaning towards...
It's PHB builds only, so gloomstalker isn't available.
Yeah...unless I get an incredible magic crossbow, I'm just going to stick with bows. I want a rogue that feels like a ranger.

I should almost constantly have advantage, so the loss of +1 to AC may be more of a concern than the loss of +1 to attack.
I'd probably use the ritual caster for feather fall, which could come in handy! I considered taking it instead of find familiar, but an owl is really nice for scouting...
Question
Should I go to 20 dex at level 4 or take a feat (considering skulker) and what would be the best level to take one level of fighter? Thanks!
Background
I'm joining a game in progress, so I'm rolling up a level 6 character. The rule for stats was 4d6, nothing above 18 or below 10. I...
