For certain values of ridiculous. And that's the reason why. :) We did a fair amount of playing house, stuff which helped with characterization but didn't really drive a lot of plot forward. That's usually the first thing editors in the genre would cut.

If WotC started selling pre-4e PDFs at reasonable prices (the 3e PDFs were not reasonably priced, having the same price as the tree corpse version of the same book) I would certianly buy those. But I don't think that's the kind of custom WotC is seeking.

I don't think Mostin's paradigm has been much addressed in the SH, except that it was similar to Shomei's. Shomei was all about challenging and overcoming extraplanar forces as a sort of perpetual transcendence. Mostin's about that too, but apparently he succeeded where Shomei ended up ensnared...
