Our Superman was a Brit, Our Batman was a Brit, our Spider-Man is a BRIT. All of these characters are very American. Peter is a kid from Forest Hills, Queens, for chrissakes. So an American behind the scenes, writing a character that they intimately know the lore for? I don't see the problem.
I will probably see ALL of them as I have an AMC A-List subscription. The only one on that list that I'm not eager to see is THE NAKED GUN (as buffoonery/slapstick comedy isn't really my thing).
I've already seen M:I - THE FINAL RECKONING twice and have my tickets pre-ordered for both SUPERMAN...
There are also more than a few single character superhero movies that fall flat because of weak writing and or editing.
There's also the fact that James Gunn wrote and directed THREE Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I think he knows how to juggle characters, giving everyone their moment to...
I'm the opposite. Reeve personifies the big blue boy scout for the time period but having read more than a few Superman comics none of the movies thus far actually capture Superman or the DCU accurately for my tastes. Donner's 1978 Superman gets the character right but none of the spectacle...
Fandom is...Funny.
I grew up watching the original show with my dad on WNYW here in NYC. It used to come on after Drive in Movie (which was the program that aired Shaw Brother Kung Fu movies).
I liked the show quite a bit as a kid but I'm also a rational human being with common sense who...
I stumbled into D&D, but when I got my first issue of Dragon Magazine back in the early/mid 80's I found out that D&D wasn't the only RPG. There were ads for TOP SECRET, STAR FRONTIERS, GAMMA WORLD, BOOT HILL, TRAVELLER, VILLAINS AND VIGILANTES, and a new MARVEL SUPER HEROES Game was coming out...
I've been visiting this site so long that this is actually my 2nd account since my first one got lost in a site crash many years ago. I've been less involved with visiting the site (compared to back when 3.0-3.5 was dominant) as I no longer run or play D&D and moved over to Pathfinder and other...
The ones I can cite definitively where I was a teen (or older) and could fully appreciate the experiences for what they were?
THE TERMINATOR (1984) No one was ready for this. At some point we were watching a B sci-fi movie that became something more and it was solidified when the T-800's endo...
I think what he might be saying is not LITERALLY "where are these other game genres?" but more along the line of "where are these games on the level of popularity of a D&D or a Pathfinder or a Shadowdark". As in people do flock toward what's popular and D&D has almost always been the most well...
You wouldn't expect i,t but I'd tell you that there are no superheroes in THE SUICIDE SQUAD. In the same way if you'd asked me what Vampires are in THE HOWLING or AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. NONE. They're monster/horror movies (But not all monster movies are vampire movies).
The Punisher is...
Yes, the movie is categorized under the superhero genre. The characters themselves are not superheroes.
And I'm pretty sure the thread's name isn't what is a Superhero movie. It's what is a Superhero.
It is fairly insubstantial for the first few weeks of release. It's the reason why the prices for concessions are so high as they keep about 40% of the ticket sales. With ALIEN now effectively being distributed by Disney the theater's cut is probably a bit lower than that. I'd guess closer to...
