In my campaign, the Ragman was a random series of people affected by the Curse of Cauldron Hill. The plotline finally resolved when a PC who didn't trust MacBannin's amulets (and therefore didn't wear one on Cauldron Hill) became the latest Ragman and the rest of the group had to fix his curse.
It's been a while, but as I recall, I decided that she arrived before the Zeitgeist solar system was cut off from the rest of the multiverse, and carried that forward for anything else we ran into that connected to the "normal" D&D planes
After the first adventure, I had Delft start assigning the briefings to various PCs, with a thought toward seeing who was best at taking his place. It's also a good way to find who is best suited to be King of Risur in the future!
In my game, we got a new player around he end of adventure 2 and she submitted an Eladrin Sorcerer with an amnesia backstory.
A week or two later, Diaspora was released and I had the inspiration to make her secretly Kasvarina (after also checking here to make sure I wouldn’t break anything!)...
"You have no torches. You'll go blind." sounds like a reference to the There Was No Light But Fire effect in the room with the Miller's pyre trap, which extinguishes all non-fire light sources for the party for 24 hours.

not even touching the Prestige classes yet. They'll all be level 10 Theme Archetypes, but I need to see how the lower-level stuff is working first.
