I got my start playing 3.5, always interested in roleplaying, I picked up the basic game on a whim, and found myself almost instantly engrossed in the game, and soon began running and playing in a variety of fun and laid back games since.

I prefer to play support roles, and unorthodox/odd characters and builds, enjoying playing around and having fun more than min/maxing. Occasionally I'll enjoy a class enough to want to take it more seriously, but never so much that it becomes something other than a fun social game.
