D&D 5E Do you find alignment useful in any way?

I don't find it useful, goals and motivation say more about a character to me then an LG or CE. But, I also support keeping it around as an extra tool for those people that do find it helpful.

    D&D Movie/TV Update on D&D TV Show -- Underdark, Small, 6-10 Episodes

I hope they don't stick to the Forgotten Realms for the Underdark. I really like Torog. His story and him crawling about the Underdark and even pulling an entire surface city down was one of the highlights of 4e lore for me.

WotC James Wyatt is on the Dungeons & Dragons Team Again

The funny thing about Eberron in 3.5 was that I thought it looked terrible when they were showing previews. And then when I borrowed it from a friend, the setting just "clicked" for me and became one of my favorites. Anything James does is a-ok with me. I really hope if there's a Planescape...

WotC James Wyatt is on the Dungeons & Dragons Team Again

I'm glad some of the ideas in the 4e Cosmology made it to 5e. Sounds like it had some effect on 5e Ravenloft was well. From what I can recall, the 4e Domains of Dread were all separate lands found in The Mists (as opposed to one large landmass), as the new 5e Ravenloft presents them. Though my...

WotC James Wyatt is on the Dungeons & Dragons Team Again

I was thinking that him and Mike Mearls working on D&D again is a bigger indicator that 6e is being looked at. But then again, maybe he was just tired of working on Magic and wanted to work on RPGs again.

D&D 5E Everything We Know About The Ravenloft Book

The House of Lament is essentially an Expy of Shirly Jackson's Hill House. It's not supposed to be a place where you walk in and start killing specter's. It's a place that traps your party, then starts mentally and physically tearing them down and threatening them. Generally the only way to...

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

Right now my install is 80GB and this is with a early game that only has one chapter in it. So it's not a typo.

D&D 3E/3.5 5E's Initial Raw Sales Numbers Stronger Than 3E's!

Same here. Got there and bought the last two yesterday.

D&D 3E/3.5 5E's Initial Raw Sales Numbers Stronger Than 3E's!

Number 1 book on Amazon? Wow, I can't believe they made it. Grats Mearls & team!

D&D 2E Yup, it's confirmed, 5E is the easiest version to run since 2E.

That was first edition. THAC0 and the ability to calculate hits was moved to the Player's Handbook in second edition so players could do it themselves. (Though to be fair most players seemed to calculate their hits in 1e anyways.)

    D&D 5E I have the Monster Manual!

Got mine! The UPS man came in just as the store manager was telling me to check back in a couple of hours. Instead I got the first one out of the box.

    D&D 5E The Paladin excerpt

Yup, in fact a half-orc paladin was one of the first pieces of concept art shown when 3rd edition was announced. Drawn on my birthday no less.

    D&D General Monster ENCyclopedia: Catoblepas

Although the 4th edition monster changes were often hit and miss for me, I always loved the Catoblepas lore they created. That and the 4e artwork moved him from my "never gonna use" list, to "headlining monster" list.

    D&D 5E Dragon's-Eye View: Concepts in Art

I would actually like to see more of Ben Wootten in D&D Next. The ranger picture below is what I would prefer D&D Next's art to look like. Actual backgrounds, stylish, yet more realistic then a majority of D&D 3e-4e and Pathfinder's art. (The pic below is actually from 4e essentials) I have...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Edition Reprints

This is what I'd like to see. Especially since they're so intent on giving 5e a lighter release schedule then 4e. There should be plenty of months were a 5e product won't be scheduled for released, but a favorite 1e or 3e book getting republished that month can fill that gap nicely. Supporting...
