What drew me to adventures like Against the Cult of the Reptile God were videos like Matt Colville's on the subject. SD gave me the opportunity to play it with the naive belief I wouldn't had to adapt much.
While I enjoyed it, I did have to put in a lot of work to make it enjoyable for me and...
Oh man TotSK! I had read through that either early this year or late last year and it seems like another fun dungeon to play. I have to find my copy again and maybe it'll be the next dungeon I throw at these guys.
I love how cross compatible OSR games with one another. I've done AD&D's...
I'm pretty new to the Forgotten Realms setting. I didn't really think much of it, but then I started reading through the Drizzt series and actually started to get pretty interested and while it might not live up to some people's expectations, I am interested how this will be for me as a new...
I've enjoyed it thus far. I am on session 4 of this adventure and can easily see it going for another 2-4 sessions. The sessions run between 2 1/2 to 3 hrs a week, and my players take their time with the adventure.
I personally love how much little stuff there is to do and how many paths lead...
The Bone is just how it be sometime lol. Been running the Black Wyrm of Brandonford for my group recently, and last night I felt like one of my players got the OSR experience. He lost an arm in one battle then went down to 6 CON in the next battle. Fun times, they all loved it.
I've frequently had a problem with this at my table since me and my players got into TTRPGs with DnD 3.5 -> Pathfinder -> 5e and PF2e. Do you think you should have them roll a dexterity check vs the monsters Wisdom each time they go for that sneak attack or should they/the dungeon master just...
The art for this looks awesome, right up my alley. I'll give it a backing. Thanks for the recommendation!
Hopefully the shipping for the physical isn't too much. The cassette tape is a cute addition :)
I've been listening to the mastering dungeons podcast and they mentioned that in the old school days (specifically around Village of Homlet time) people wouldn't just have one character, but two characters. Has anyone tried this for the lower level side of Shadowdark? I think if I remember right...
Man I didn't know about the kickstarter for Vol3 at the time, and Vol1 was an add-on for the Devouring Lab kickstarter, now I can't justify to myself buying all 3 together
What does scouting look like in your campaign? My thief player said that since she's bringing a light around to see, she can't really sneak around so she threw away the idea of scouting.
I have been playing with just the four core classes for right now. I am now starting to branch out and adding to that, but I am curious how mounts are going to work in a more dungeon crawl setting that won't end up looking like trying to get a Warthog through a Halo level.
I have ran Against the Cult of the Reptile God and doing a bunch of one shot dungeons so far in Shadowdark and so far my players have been avoiding death by a hair. I feel like the lethality is there, and many combats people have gone down and just barely stabilized.
As far as what level to...
