How similar is manifesting to casting?

That's just the same old weirdness that being helpless doesn't provoke. There are a lot of AoO provocations that are ascribed to "dropping your guard." But as you noted, you can't get much more open to attack than being completely frozen.

    Protection vs Scrying/Teleportation

Simple, non-magical lead sheeting will block any (Scrying) spell, which would extend to the clairvoyance ability of the mirror. (You can find this rule under the explanation of the Scrying subschool.) Since the mirror requires you to view an area before teleporting to it, this would block that...

Spell Compendium: What are the "broken" spells?

I'm only familiar with the clerical spells, really. Here's a few of the more powerful ones I've noticed: The Conviction (1st/3rd) spells are so good at high levels there's never a reason to not have them active. (A first level spell that gives you +6 luck on all saves for a couple hours? )...

Monster Manual 2: How long before the pirated copy appears?

    That's a really weird claim.

    Hideous Blow= AoO?

Nah, if you go back to the original thread you can see that people are specifically discussing whether using the invocation provokes. Baker first says that it appears that it would by RAW, but that it probably shouldn't and he will check with the other developers of the class on the intent of...

    Hideous Blow= AoO?

This is one of those cases where we actually know the RAI. One of the designers of the Warlock class has stated that Hideous Blow should not provoke AoO. However, I think that at some later point there was a Sage Advice that reiterated the RAW answer that it does provoke?

Slow (Arcane) Hand: Increasing Casting Times

This is actually RAW. Parameters of a spell are chosen at the completion of the spell, not when you start it.

Slow (Arcane) Hand: Increasing Casting Times

This would probably frustrate casters too much. One compromise would be to have it only apply to caster's highest level of spells.

Please critique: Altering the Spirit Shaman for my campaign.

Here's a thought: maybe the OP didn't bother writing up the new flavor because it had absolutely no relevance to their post? They wanted a critique on whether the class was balanced. I think it was, since split-stat casting severely nerfs you at high levels. (I'm playing a 19th level favored...

why doesn't anyone go after scribd?

The Pirate Bay is different than scribd because they (joyfully, proudly) ignore take-down letters. Assuming that scribd takes down offending material when notified they're in the clear (at least by US law.) Just as media companies don't sue youtube, despite the massive amounts of copyrighted...

What do you like about 4e?

I like that monsters don't follow the same rules as PCs. I like condensed skills, and the elimination of skill points. The idea of a healing surge is neat. I think that in general, the economy of actions is handled better. Having a distinction between rituals and spells is probably a good...

    Confusion over GSL and 4e

It's a pretty important question, though. It highlights the single biggest problem with the GSL: on the surface, it seems that what's prohibited can change at the whim of WotC. And this doesn't require some nefarious intent on the behalf of WotC, just the addition of new material to the SRD...

    Spell Listing (3.5e)

I actually spent a little bit of time typing up descriptions for spells my cleric uses semi-frequently. Depending on how fast a typist you are, that can be more convenient than photocopying... a lot of the text in each spell isn't necessary for a quick reference. You could also use either the...

    Spell Listing (3.5e)

This is reason calling: It's ok to photocopy books you own in order to access specific pages quickly.
