D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

I'd love to see the Amazon book ranks for the 2024 PHB, but we just can't in the US. I can see it for Canada so I know that it's possible for this to happen. I think that's why you're seeing comments on other editions or other games. That's keeping the thread active. As far as what the Amazon...

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

For what it's worth, I own it, and have recommended it to a ton of people who like 5E-esque play but find 5E too dense. And I really mean that it's one of the best things to happen to the hobby/industry in a long time. And I'd also gladly play it as a one-off of Con game.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

For what it's worth, this was the issue in the playtest that caused one of the players to ragequit. Back then, you'd subtract your armor score from the damage of an attack, and then compare it back to the table, so you might spend a slot and not have it make any effect, or have to spend multiple...

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

One thing not everyone may know is that Kelsey has made the files for layout in the Shadowdark style available for download in Affinity Publisher style. So you can make content that looks identical to the "real thing." I found that amazing. A lot of people who make small-press RPGs are terrible...

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

I know this is going to sound trite, but this thread comes from a video that discusses the "scandal" and comes to the conclusion that it's a nothing burger. So the easiest answer to your question would be to watch the video. From what I've seen and read about the issue, the key complaint seems...

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

I'm just the reverse. I swim in political waters, and I'm honestly amused when my hobby channels get as charged up as those. I do hobby stuff to escape anger for a little while, and fortunately most of the time I can.

Diamond Comic Distributors Files Bankruptcy, Sells Alliance Game Distributors

From the video, if he's getting $35 per book, it's ~2850 books for $100000. If we're talking thousands of books, I can see how that number would make sense. Stephen is the only one who knows the exact numbers, and I'm sure he's heavily rounding. And the real issue I see is with the smaller...

Diamond Comic Distributors Files Bankruptcy, Sells Alliance Game Distributors

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I think this will upend the current distribution system, and after that, smaller gaming companies will have to consider what to do with their inventory. This year, the combination of tariffs and this is just horrible for the little guy.

Diamond Comic Distributors Files Bankruptcy, Sells Alliance Game Distributors

There are a lot of companies, many of them smaller, that are going to take a huge hit on this. If a company that you like is affected, I'd suggest picking up that adventure or supplement you've been thinking about but holding off on. Such a sad situation.

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

Poor Bob! He makes great content, and is one of the people encouraging less click-baity content. I get it if you don't watch YouTube content (I dislike a lot of it) but I find his stuff to be oddly relaxing and sort of homespun. To each their own, of course.

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

I've been following this issue, and it has been a concern for some people who want to make content for the game. And it's been used as an example of why there's no Foundry access. I figured this would be something that would just work itself out, and at least as far as Foundry goes, it already...

Tomb Raider RPG Cancelled For Creative Differences

It seems to me that the current iteration of Fate has reached the end point. I don't know if there's much more to do with it. Edited to add: I say that as someone who really likes it, and has just about everything that's been produced for it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Solasta 2 and the 1/2 elf

I would definitely allow the half-elf if my group ever moves to 5.5E. We have had a lot of half-elves on the games we've played and the decision to remove them was (in my opinion) a great example of a small number of people asking for something and just having it happen.

Tomb Raider RPG Cancelled For Creative Differences

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case. I would say a Tomb Raider game is squarely in my wheelhouse for interests, and I loved Outgunned when I had the chance to play it. This game, was not the sort of thing I'd be looking for, to say the least. Now will it find an audience? I'm sure it...

    Optimization and optimizers...

I play RPGs to have fun and be creative. If I were ever playing with players or a GM who were out to break things or people, and not just enjoy themselves, I would get out of that situation. And I think that's why you hear of people optimizing characters as a bad thing: it removes the fun...
