D&D 4E What AI thinks about 4th Edition

I think this is part of the knowledge that was lost after 4th edition. In 3X, there were big differences in saves, but you could at least mitigate them somewhat. 4E addressed this problem with weaker saves, where you would have differences, and yet they would be tighter. 5E ... if you don't get...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I think this is the key. I bought the 5.5E PHB for my VTT, but haven't gotten the other two books because my group and I just aren't feeling it. And I really see the desire to complain and attempt to get WotC to change. I want things to be different. But then I realize that would be pointless...

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

I had the same debate. I backed MCDM and passed on Daggerheart. My group did a playtest game of Daggerheart and found it wasn't for us. I can't wait to do the same with this one. I think it was a tough call as to who to back, but I will likely end up with both in PDF.

I will never stop laughing at "I'm a monster! Grr!" for gnomes.

D&D (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

That is a change in 5.5E. For me, it makes basic magic weapons even less interesting.

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

I haven't heard anything. I expect Matt will be having the hype train up and running well before that happens. I still have a copy of the beta rules.

    D&D 5E Official WotC 5e pdfs

Oh, I know that won't happen. Just thought it was appropriate to say. I have no illusions that WotC will make a change, but there are new people working with the product, perhaps one of them might try and make the sale. I mean, the choice in my case is PDF sales or nothing, and I'm not the only one.

    D&D 5E Official WotC 5e pdfs

The core three books in PDF are things I'd like to legally purchase.

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

It depends on the system I'm running. I'm currently running a PF2 game and the assumption there is that you will be able to heal to full HP between each combat barring time crunches. I'm running Abomination Vaults, so there are some of those elements, but they are currently at a point where they...

Dragon Delves to Return to Godsbreath, a Journey Through the Radiant Citadel Setting

So the implication is these adventures will be in several world settings and not one overarching campaign. Is that correct?

    D&D (2024) Stealth Errata

I'll be honest, I initially thought this was going to be about WotC doing an update and not telling anyone about it. Not actual updates to the stealth mechanics.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

I think this is very well said, and very important to the hobby. I grew up in the 70s and 80s playing, and there were a lot of social outcasts and odd people who were welcomed into the game. Nowadays, I realize that they were neurodivergent, but we didn't know it back then. Other social circles...

    D&D (2024) Stealth Errata

To me, this is the best example of rules that my group and I just work around. I think it's the equivalent of the "attack versus attack action" from 5.0. Exactly how hiding and attacking works is something we've had to work out via compromise so that it works at our table.

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

To me, this is the only way to be successful as a GM. I'm going on a trip and going to play some OSR D&D on it. That is ... not my favorite flavor of RPG at all. And yet, my friend who runs the game could run any game system and it would be fun. With my friends when I run a game, I have...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Indeed. They definitely listed the PHB as the fastest-selling product ever, and called the PHB the fastest-selling book in a call to investors. But that was last quarter. Nothing was mentioned at all in the latest report, which tells me things must have slowed. Having been involved with many of...
