I've been trawling those first two sites for a couple of weeks now. I didn't know Ed Greenwood had his own site, and Elminster's Guide to the Realms sounds good. Thanks for the tips.

Well I dunno what I'm gonna do. There's no way I'm going to buy all the adventures written for 4e and read 50 novels. I need some way to get a broad understanding of what's happened between early 3e and 5e, preferably without having to spend $1000 and/or 6 months of painstaking internet...

Exactly. I haven't played D&D since early 3e. I don't want to have to buy all the 4e campaign supplements and then spend months trying to extrapolate what the "current" timeline is based on whatever I can find in 4e mixed with the few bits information provided so far in 5e.
