Is DDI Worthwhile in Your Opinion?

If I decide to subscribe continuously, I'll definitely do it like that (and ask my players if they want to share the cost). Otherwise it's going to be 1 month every few months. I don't buy enough books to justify the cost otherwise - what can I say, I enjoy my homebrew. (In case it wasn't...

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

That's another excellent piece of info I was blissfully unaware of. Sadly, my group's need for PHBs is well taken care of already, but that would surely be of great benefit to 4e latecomers.

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

I actually discovered that it wasn't a discount/sale at all, they just increased the price and offered people to buy 1 year for the old price. So I guess I'm humped in that regard. :p At this point I'm more partial to subscribing for a month whenever I need updates and not otherwise, though...

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

It makes perfect sense to me, as that's pretty much what I've been doing since I started DM'ing. :)

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

Thanks for the excellent info. My players and I are spread across 3 households, so the DRM limit would be absolutely no problem for us. Each player subscribing to a DDI account is just plain never going to happen, ever, so if the rules prohibit sharing a DDI account we're left with the choice...

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

Well, I'm a DMG addict, so no problems there. It's starting to look like the DDI, when renewed only when updates are needed, is an alternative that gives good value if you can bear to lose the fluff. Certainly better than buying a heap of books when you only really need/want a couple of...

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

That sounds like a good idea. I had no idea the CB/MM would continue to function after the subscription ended in this age of DRM and greed. Kudos to Wizards if this is intentional and they plan to keep it that way. :) What (if anything) is in the Compendium that the CB/MM doesn't cover, by the...

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

Hm, I'm starting to think I should give DDI a try the next time they offer it at a discounted price (missed the last one, obviously, but I'm in no particular hurry). Is there anything from the books other than fluff that you miss out on by relying on DDI only? (Not that I buy any books other...

How do you errata your hard copies?

I use a highlighter to mark in the book text that has been errata'd. So if we see that something's highlighted, we know it to be inaccurate and can look it up in the errata.

I love it when a Campaign Arc comes together

Generally I map out the broad strokes and fill in the details of how to advance the plot to the next step only when I plan the actual session. I started with mapping out several factions with different goals that would occasionally clash, and then I planted some NPCs with hidden backgrounds...

I love it when a Campaign Arc comes together

In my 4e game, the characters have gotten to the good stuff action wise (defeating villains, saving the day etc.), but the full meaning of those actions within the greater plot(s) are not yet clear to them. For instance, they saved their secret employer (whose identity is a mystery to just about...

    Monster NADs

The average ability score is a target number (doesn't have to be the calculated average of the scores) defined on the same page in the DMG, thus: Average highest score of a pair: 13 + 1/2 monster level (rounded down) Primary attack ability: 16 + 1/2 monster level (rounded down) The number in...
