Kobold Press: An Interview with Celeste Conowitch

I'll chime in to say, that WHILE I am currently running 5e24. I like ToV better across the board for implementations of things like crafting, luck, weapon masteries, RITUALS!; I want to run ToV with 5e24's exhaustion system pretty much. Glad to hear more options forthcoming.

Level Up (A5E) North America Adventurer's Guide

Yeah definitely a good problem...for you ;) ... Thanks for the quick response... I'll poke around in the interim and see if it's up on other markets too. Thanks!

Level Up (A5E) North America Adventurer's Guide

This has likely been addressed SOMEWHERE...but I cannot find it. Loving the game...want to buy the physical book, but it is sold out. Any updates on a reprint, etc? Thanks all! - DC

Dragonbane Offers A Box Full Of Classic Fantasy

I think the biggest impediment to d20 players isn't necessarily the "roll low is better" vibe (though I hear that), its the monsters autohit unless you use your single action to defend...ie in lieu of doing something on your turn.

D&D (2024) Upcoming One D&D: Unearthed Arcana 'Expert' Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue)

Just chiming in to say I really like the idea of grouping classes: Experts, Warriors, etc. See it in a lot in smaller D&D-inspired games...it also reminds me of the halcyon days of AD&D 2E.

Basic D&D Was Selling 600,000+/Year At One Point

As a point of game comparison, TRIVIAL PURSUIT was first released in 1982 --- it became a MEGA hit...eager to be found by many ...it sold 100,000 copies. Now lots of things play into this...new, so underestimated print-run, a board game not a book (game)... (Source: shorturl.at/gryBR)

Basic D&D Was Selling 600,000+/Year At One Point

(Full disclosure: Professor of journalism...so probably OVERTHINKING) He said the same to me on twitter. Just odd to specifically request anonymity over this, plus these types of numbers are hard to know from a publisher of that era, of that sales type...print run sure, but sales # is tricky...

Basic D&D Was Selling 600,000+/Year At One Point

Has he mentioned where he collated this data? I'm not doubting it; I am just curious. And, I likely missed where he did...

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Playtest Impressions

Marvel Heroic is exceptional, and my preferred for when people want to play a 'canon' character. Sentinels is exceptional, too. But, man, it is a TRAVESTY (hyperbole alert!!) that no one has mentioned ICONS Assembled by Kenson. Narrative with dice tricks, easy integration of multiple power...

A Look Inside The Marvel Multiverse RPG Playtest Edition

Really well-said. And, I agree, by & large, with the sum of this. I too felt like he took the wrong lessons forward ... at least seemingly. Marvel Heroic, Sentinels Comics RPG, Icons, Masks, & more have succeeded because I think they've done exceptionally well at tapping into the thematic...

A Look Inside The Marvel Multiverse RPG Playtest Edition

I'm kind of torn on this product. On one hand, I love new superhero rpgs...but, this is so...I don't know... 3.5ish. There have been so many fascinating innovations in the super rpg genre over the past 10 years it seems odd to get essentially a version of Mutants & Masterminds with 3d6 instead...

Blog (A5E) A Sneak Peek At Magic

Agreed, I do not like the idea of "improved/rare versions" doing more damage at a given level...I DO REALLY like the idea of them doing different/cool things... Katrina's Smoldering Fireball only deals 4d6 damage, but does 2d6 ongoing fire damage to each character hit. Spend an action to douse...

D&D 5E Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

Just wanted to chime in on the New User Experience thing (and, apologies in advance if I am repeating something...didn't get a chance to read everything yet). D&D by its virtue and success at being a fan-creating object is always going to struggle with the need to attract new players while...
