Divinity did turn base fantastically and I could see that working really well for 5e.

Personally I love the druid and think it is a fantastic class in 5e. Definitely one of the best designed in my opinion. Things I would like to see in future releases are more druid only spells and more non-concentration spells. Also, it seems that a lot of people have issues with wildshape...

I don't think that the world has been at risk at all during any of the official campaigns. At worst, specific parts of the Sword Coast have been at risk but definitely not the world. I mean the books do say that Faerun may fall to Tiamat or be overrun by Demonlords but that's the absolute worst...

Yeah that tends to be the general theme of moon druids past level 5 until level 18. Elemental forms are awesome at level 10 but feel less awesome once 6th levels spells kick in at level 11. Land Druid is definitely a good choice.

In my personal opinion conjuring is the most fun and if done right (have all the stats in front of you, Companions App FTW, don't summon more than 2 at once etc.) then it doesn't really slow the game down. If that's not your thing though then that's understandable. I also think it's quite fun...
