D&D 5E Greater Invis and Stealth checks, how do you rule it?

LOL, I actually do this, which is in part why I like 5e so much. The system is easy to tell a story with. The solution is also easy...grant an Invisible creature Advantage on their Stealth roll. Bestow Disadvantage on the ability checks of creatures attempting to locate Invisible creatures...

D&D 5E Greater Invis and Stealth checks, how do you rule it?

I have no problem with the Heroic style. Eventually, Invisibility is easily dealt with in combat, in any edition of D&D. 5e, though makes Invisibility, almost trivial to melee attacks right out the gate. Meanwhile being unseen, cancels the "see target" requirement of many spells. The...

What programs do you use when playing on-line?

I've been using a combo of Zoom and Google Draw and it is working surprisingly well. Zoom is stable even on a mobile phone, which opens up play space options. Google Draw or Google Whiteboard are simple to use. You can drop your map in. Create some clouds for Fog of War concealment and pull...

D&D 5E As a DM, what monster abilities do you find difficult to run?

Yes, the Stat blocks are becoming more DM friendly, and have been even going back to VGtM. I also find it much easier to swap out a spell from the default creature entry, then having to redesign a new monster power. 5e stat blocks should at least contain the book and page number of the spell...

D&D 5E Greater Invis and Stealth checks, how do you rule it?

My issue is being Invisible should not just result in having the opportunity to Hide. Being Invisible should mean you automatically count as Hidden against sight based Investigation and Perception checks. If you are Invisible, but not Hidden, anything around can hear you, pin point where you...

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

Mistwell, all of these examples involve prior scouting, encountering a problem and then being able to take a Long Rest to swap out spells. That is not always possible. If the mechanical dragon is enroute to burn Ten Towns, the PCs don't have time to Rest. As it stands now, the Sorcerer or...

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

The Schtick For the Wizard in 5e is not having daily access to the largest selection of spells to prepare. That Schtick belongs to prepared casters, it always has. I understand what you are conveying, I used to feel the same. When the original U/A came out with the changes I even argued the...

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

That is the argument you have been presenting...isn't that what you mean by repeating that Metamagic is what the sorcerer class is all about? To the thread at large: The idea of pointing out Harm is so that redemptive steps can be taken. So I think it is evident that based off what we know...

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

"Virtually Obsolete"...your doctor can't treat "virtual pain".....what actual harm is the class suffering? If your neighbor renovates their house, their home Improvement has no actual impact to your own home. You might feel worse, because of their changes, like some people feel when one of...

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

Which is the same I feel about going down to -3 HP in AD&D..."Big Whoop" The Bard is the one with the Dispel Magic spell..(Sad Trombone) Terrain and Luck make all the difference...just like in AD&D...just like in real life. Please don't try to prove that my group or players are idiots...it is...

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

There is a lot of anger in that. More anger than RPG mechanics warrant. I"m going to flip your statement: I'm sick of people stuck in AD&D mode freaking out at versatility. Essentially you are saying that any character that can surprise you with a single spell a day, will throw off your...

    Played some Classic Traveller today

I've only played the original Traveller and Mongoose's and the systems feel the same to me. I appreciate the small cleanups to the rules in MGT2. We used to use Traveller rules instead of Fasa's Mechwarrior RPG rules. The system can model quite a bit, takes mods like a champ.

D&D 5E New class options in Tasha

It is the same versatility a cleric or druid has. At 5th level the Wizard knew Fireball and Animate Dead. My 5th level cleric knows the entire list. For 3 days we rested and I prepared Animate Dead to create/control 4 zombies. When setting out on the adventuring day I swapped many spells out...

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

That could work well. You could even pull off a Scott Pilgrim sort of Psychic vibe.

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden -- A Comprehensive Review

I think so. The locations are solid and there are many different reasons for why the PC group will chose to go to a place.
