D&D 5E (2024) Create Undead in monster stat blocks

I've noticed that some of the 2025 monsters in the new Adventures in Faerûn books have "Create Undead" as spells they can cast, including Sammaster, who can cast it at 8th level. Reading the spell, if I were to run one of these monsters, would I include the Undead (ghouls, mostly) that the spell...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I wish there was more on Vaasa in this, too! The Warlock Knights are so freaking cool, and I think it would be fun to see them in 5e. It is odd that Vaasa is mentioned in passing only in relation to its border with Damara, honestly.

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

Looking at the poster map, the Elfharrow must not be a thing anymore? All the cities are back where it would've been before. It appears that Lapaliiya is a nation again, just without being called such:

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I never noticed it!! Thank you for the heads up!! EDIT: To be honest, I hadn't taken the poster map out... I always am so anxious about doing so, but I decided to go ahead, and I see that Halruua and Luiren are both mentioned!! Thanks for giving me the impetus to do that!

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

Excellent point!! I have a few ideas for Dambrath, actually! I can't imagine the ruling Crinti were all slain after the revolution that was described. I have a concept for a "Queen of Dambrath-in-exile" based in a far off place (like Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep, or Neverwinter) building support...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

In 4e they were obliterated, but the SCAG says they are both back, and explicitly says that Halruua avoided the Spellplague, and is now back in Faerûn. I do agree that they are controversial and obscure, I guess this is just me feeling that they could easily make an effort and expand these...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I recently borrowed the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide from my local library (support the library, kids!), and I noticed that Halruaa and Dambrath are mentioned there, but not in Heroes of Faerûn's gazetteer. I wish there was more info about what's happened in these lands in DR 1501, and wonder...

Forgotten Realms: Astarion's Book of Hungers - First Impressions

It's an animated Infernal statue of a fiendish form, used by cults as guardians. They can make slam attacks, and can erupt into hellish flames. There's a table of some subtle and not-so-subtle options for forms it may take.

D&D 5E (2024) Lorwyn: First Light Released on D&D Beyond

I ended up buying the thing, and I agree, sadly. It is marketing hogwash, there's no attempt to even describe this as a Domain of Delight at all. I wish they kept the third space for an actual FR supplement, like a bestiary or something. I like the monsters for the most part, but the...

D&D 5E (2024) Lorwyn: First Light Released on D&D Beyond

As an aside, I'm glad to see WoTC using Bloodied in their monster designs again! The Noggle Wild Mage joins the Cultists of Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul in having abilities that activate when the monster is Bloodied, and the Scion of the Dead Three in Adventures in Faerûn has a feature which...
