    D&D 5E Monks Suck

That is absolutely the general tone of that piece, but that piece, originally written over 15 years ago, also begins with a disclaimer about the style. In the literally hundreds of pieces of content since this guide was written, I do not use that style. Though if we are to discuss that piece...

    D&D 5E Monks Suck

The lack of feats is definitely an issue. Because close to half their attacks are unarmed they can't benefit from a lot of combat feats other weapon using classes have the option of. "right there" means a bit behind. You asked if I could beat the Monk damage from levels 1-10 with any...

    D&D 5E Monks Suck

In this case it is an Eberron build (uses the Eberron sourcebooks) in which there is a wood elf variant Then at level 4 you can take Revenant blade increasing Dex to 18 and getting finesse property on DBS. Edit: Of course most importantly, if you aren't in an Eberron setting and these features...

    D&D 5E Monks Suck

Of 13 classes in the game, Monks have the lowest potential if damage is being focused on. So literally the worst. I've done builds for every class in the game (multiple for most) and done the damage comparison against a static baseline, and the Monk is the only class I can't beat that baseline...

    D&D 5E Monks Suck

Should mention - the green highlights are what this character is using at each level, though as this comparison shows, the rogue actually has multiple means to beat the baseline from levels 1-10, which the monk can't unless it's using FoB. These numbers assume no resource use.

Already done. Here's a straight class rogue that beats the monk numbers levels 1-10 (all of them) comparing to the same baseline I do in my Monk vid. This character is a wood-elf.

If we are using feats, I can beat the monk damage at those levels with any class. (overall)

    D&D 5E Monks Suck

Hey Mistwell, when did you take over my channel? Pardon, have you seen my Simulacrum? It hasn't reported recently. Oh bother. I agree the Monk is much more effective comparatively if we are not using feats. My analysis assumes feats are in play. I don't think I've ever demeaned people...

D&D 5E Help me with good RP/Optimization balance for Half-Elf (probably)Valor Bard (archer?)

The Jack of all trades class ability for Bards will give you 1/2 proficiency bonus to any ability check that you are not proficient in. This basically gives you a 1/2 proficiency in all skills, all tools (which are used with ability checks), and initiative (which is an ability check). For a...

D&D 5E Help me with good RP/Optimization balance for Half-Elf (probably)Valor Bard (archer?)

Apparently the original version of this formatted weird, so the edit. 1) Your primary thing will be neither Ranged combat nor Melee combat, it will be spells. Just because Bards can use weapons doesn't make them anything other than what they are: A primary spellcaster. 2) That said, by all...

    Beast Master Ranger: Redeemed?

I agree that the tactics need to change against creatures with a higher reach, but for the reasons I bring up in the video, I don't think the Beast is a likely target for enemies. Of course, if it is, you should get it out of harm's way if possible and just strike twice with your Ranger...
