I don't think it will be feasible to invalidate 1.0a even it isn't "authorized".
There is a lot of other SRD using the 1.0a as for example, Pathfinder, Traveller, Legend... Wizards simply cannot impose their terms to anybody that doesn't aagree to use v1.1

In my experience (I'm from Spain) Crits were one of the first house rules most groups created in the AD&D era. These and fumbles, but fumbles were not so popular.

My group is in the 16-20 years zone. We have endured everything from AD&D, CoC, MERP/Rolemaster, Star Wars (d6/d20), Vampire, D&D 3Ed, L5R, 7th Sea, Stormbringer, and now Pathfinder.
Kara-tur, not only because is the original setting for Oriental Adventures, but by the rarity.
Planes of Law is another it's also OK, I love the Planescape Setting in general.
