Spoilers Star Trek Academy [spoiler thread]

So the Floating nacelles, programmable matter, all just meh? ... the problem is this is all just magic. Star Trek can already teleport, regenerate flesh, conjure food from nothing, fire bolts of energy that disintegrate the body and yet only leave an ash stain behind. So asking for more advanced...

Pants are just a straitjacket for the legs, more men should ditch pants. Kilts are awesome

Spoilers Star Trek Academy [spoiler thread]

I say this as a fan of Discovery, but the main thing I found sometimes challenging was how breathless Disco could be. We have to shoot this exposition sequence with spinning lights and camera, this character has to have a emotional crisis while we figure out how we're solving this week's plot...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

Yeah, I'd like more content, especially the 100+ Adversaries and Environments that Hope & Fear are offering. But I'm still finding joy with the system.

Spoilers Star Trek Academy [spoiler thread]

The campus scenes are almost too busy. Like, I enjoy seeing Exo-comps that aren't Peanut Hamper and the Dots are fun, but there is a lot going on, and it's sometimes less "Feast for the eyes" and more "too much visual noise".

Spoilers Star Trek Academy [spoiler thread]

Right now I'd say I'm just a little lukewarm on Caleb. I dunno, the kids are all broad and standard school archetypes, and I'm gonna need some more nuance here. Either that or it's just my age showing, 'cause I'm liking the teaching staff. Holly Hunter has great energy, glad to see Oded Fehr...

Dungeons & Dragons Playtests Four New Mystic-Themed Subclasses

Not bad. I dunno, these don't call to me, but I have no major objections either

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

Cantrips are also ... assuming you're not starting at 10th level, your bread and butter spells for the previous 9 levels of adventuring. So I don't think their cognitive load is that high.

Trailer Avengers: Doomsday | Only in Theaters December 18, 2026

I'm just guessing that the FF rocket, last seen in the post credit Thunderbolts* sequence crashes or lands in the desert

What are you reading in 2025?

+1. Loved both Circe and Song of Achilles. I also recommend Ariadne: A Novel by Jennifer Saint

What Are Your Favourite Movie Quotes?

The one I am constantly using that I doubt many people catch is "What a fascinating modern age we live in", from Master and Commander. I like the dryness of Russell Crowe's delivery ... and it's always applicable.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

I do. With the caveat that I've yet to use any of those statblocks in an actual session yet and can't comment on balance, I'm generally pleased with the book. There are a lot of adversaries, covering a diverse ground. You'll see support for pretty much every Core Campaign Frame, I didn't see...

There's been a bunch of Bluesky posts memeing various returns to Avengers: Doomsday, but this is one of the funniest

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

We'll see how it affects my group, we're adding a PC, going from 5 to 6, but tbh, between a Halfling and a Seraph in the party, the party can generate a lot of Hope without even needing to roll.

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

Don't worry too much about "getting it right". I've been running a fairly trad Daggerheart campaign, because my experience is I've only DMed DnD, and a bit of FATE and (very briefly) 13th Age. So I'm aware I need to use Fear better outside of combat, and several other things that come from not...
