If 5e is a 6, than I'm a 4 or 5. When 5e launched, it was the sweet spot for system complexity, now it's close to the upper limit. Daggerheart is my new sweet spot.

Yes, these are all feasible, but it still makes all these powers look clunkier and wordier. To compare it to MTG, the other card based game I love to play, it's the difference between having cards say "enters" over "enters the battlefield" or "Mill 2 cards" over "Put 2 cards from your library...

Had my first session of Daggerheart for this year as we restarted the campaign after the holiday hiatus. Admittedly, I had a bad experience with Solo at the theatres. The opening set piece on Corellia didn't show up properly, and so a lot of the dark scenes were practically a radio play. So by the time we get the Imperial recruiter calling him "Han ... SOLO", I more or less told the movie to eff...

I'd push back slightly and yet still agree, the choices of the players and DM influence tone. To step out of the frames and go back to DnD, Eberron is both pulp and noir and how a table goes can push to a darker, more noir vibe or go the other way and have a more heroic, swashbuckling and pulp...

I say this as a fan of Discovery, but the main thing I found sometimes challenging was how breathless Disco could be. We have to shoot this exposition sequence with spinning lights and camera, this character has to have a emotional crisis while we figure out how we're solving this week's plot...

Yeah, I'd like more content, especially the 100+ Adversaries and Environments that Hope & Fear are offering. But I'm still finding joy with the system.
