    The big announcement: 4dventure

Hmm.. it could be a play on "4th dimension", a.k.a. "Planescape replacement".. one could make a case for that...

    The big announcement: 4dventure

Not if it was March 31st tonight (and it's not)... betcha they try that with "5th edition" this spring :) Hopefully Morris won't have to sign a 24-hour NDA.. *hopes*

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

If you mean WB @ 1st and 2nd, some other class @ 3rd, 4th, then WB @ 5th, 6th, then yes, you'll be able to get a 3rd lvl stance at 6th lvl (WB 4).. then again, you're only a WB 4 instead of WB 6, and at 20th lvl, you'll miss out on Stance Mastery as well as a 7th readied maneuver and the 13th...

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

I considered it, and maybe I'll go that route if I refactor the pc at some future point, but for now given that he's advancing as Warblade and not Swordsage, it doesn't really apply.

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

Yep, excellent rolls (for once!) + high con + con item equivalent.. Superior Unarmed Strike won't make a huge difference true, but it will make a difference, especially later on, which is when I intend on taking it. I don't plan on taking any more Monk levels, that would be counterproductive...

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

I considered that, but then I wouldn't have gotten the unarmed combat stuff. If I hadn't been going for that, then I very likely would have chosen rogue instead.

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

True, but I didn't go that route, because Wis = 9.. and in part because actual physical items are quite limited (think mesoamerican bronze age tech)... one reason I went the "unarmed specialist" route, and monk fit right into that.. (was WAY worth the tradeoff of losing 1 maneuver level, and the...

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

I want to add that Weapon Aptitude has been a non-issue. To make use of it in a way that would be worth the investment in feats would significantly lower his effectiveness in other ways.. I do think though that Fighters should have it (an expanded version of it even).. and the 1 ftr feat/lvl for...

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

Yep, that's right. I know this, since I'm the Warblade in said campaign :) There's also some oddness in that magic items in his campaign use a completely different system, so that's bound to have effects on the balance.

Oops! Yes, you're right of course. I missed that.

I've bolded the relevant bits. Doesn't this mean that even though you get 2 spells @ 4th, you can't use one of them, because the maximum level is still 1st @ 4th? WOTC really ought to proofread their stuff better.. I'd think it wouldn't cost them anything, as I expect they could get many eager...

    Fiery Burst: Overpowered?

That's not quite what I meant.. more that a caster does his fiery burst which affects up to 4 opponents.. but a barbarian's attack isn't necessarily one opponent, could also be a bunch of opponents as well in that round (and you could also factor in attacks of opporunity as well).. And yeah...

    Fiery Burst: Overpowered?

Also, the barbarian can damage more than one opponent too (Cleave/Great Cleave/Whirlwind Attack, and Supreme Cleave if one adds certain PrCs)

    Fiery Burst: Overpowered?

*laughs*.. well, I wouldn't have except that I'm kinda bored too ;)

    Fiery Burst: Overpowered?

*shakes head*.. maybe you should prep some more for tomorrow's game if you're THAT bored ;) I play a cleric in a different campaign which has this feat, and I don't find it overpowered. It fits in with his character concept very well, and it gives him a modest ranged capability where otherwise...
