Thritto!
The last game of 3.5e I ran had this as the pantheon for a homebrew world. The group's priest was a disciple of Naryne, goddess of nobility and leadership. He was journeying to Cauldron (from the Shackled City AP) in order to become an advisor to a noble family, when things went awry.
Let me play a psion or crusader and I will be as jerk-free as possible! :D
I feel lucky that I have a group of players who are up for a wide range of games, without being asshats. I know not everyone is so lucky. If I do ever get around to offering up an E6 Pathfinder game, I doubt my group...
I played 3.5e throughout its run. Near the end, the game started to wear me out. It was mostly higher levels of play that killed my interest. As a GM I rarely used published adventure, but the last thing I ran was Shackled City, because I didn't want to have to plan out higher level stuff.
I...
I am super stoked for M&M 4e. I had a lot of fun with 2e, but never did play 3e. The third edition was beautifully streamlined in some ways, such as the powers, but then added cruft in that seemed unnecessary (two new stats), plus some other stuff I didn't like. 4e feels like a marriage between...
Add me to the list of folks who count 2e M&M as an upgrade. This is especially true with Ultimate Power.
I like the changes to the powers in 3e, overall. But I didn't like some other things, like skills and adding attributes.
From what I have seen of 4e, I will be adding it to the upgrade...
I consider GURPS 4e an all around upgrade. While the text book nature of the rules make it a less fun read, I like how it all comes together in two books. I have come back to GURPS after a 20+ year break from the system, and am considering running it after my current SotWW games end. I never...
My first two are easy:
1. GURPS 4e
2. Mutants & Masterminds (probably 4e, from the way it is shaping up)
With those two systems, the breadth of games I could run is pretty vast.
After that it becomes harder to pin down a third system. I thought about Cortex for the quick games or one-offs...
This is my answer as well. I had planned on running a GURPS fantasy game, but then other factors arose, leading me to...
I am currently running two SotWW games. I switched my plan from GURPS to SotWW as I had some newbs wanted to play in a game, but I didn't want to put them in with my all...
A subset of narrativism that I find to be particularly modern is more hardcoded genre emulation.
Mutants & Masterminds generally emulates genre via character capabilities and actions. Its rules can be used to create most comic book superheroes and then play out their actions and adventures. The...
Most of my use of offset squares was 4e D&D, and so I tended to have larger rooms to allow for a lot of movement, so the two of the walls in a larger square room that had half squares didn't come up as often. But I get your point.
Though now that I think about it, that wouldn’t work for the more tactical combat rules in GURPS all that well, since it doesn’t work well with facing. But other than that, offset squares are awesome.
My favorite kind of grid is offset squares. You get a lot of the benefits of both squares and hexes. I used to get my own custom offset square battlemat printed and laminated. I wish Foundry had that as an option for the grid.
