The description of dark moon rises annoys me. They say they use a "unique" system to guide you through the adventure without a DM but don't actually tell you want that is, you have to go download the sample first to even know if it's a style you would like. All it is is just a choose your own...
Totally agree with this. I think the reason a lot of people think running modules is easier is for two reasons. They've never run a game without some sort of aid. Or they just run crappy games. You can certainly run a module without doing the prep of making it your own, but it won't be as good...
My gf and I are looking for a group and/or players in the baton rouge, denham springs, Hammond area of Louisiana. I have experience with lots of RPGs and she's only played old school D&D with me. We're interested in any RPG and also boardgames. I usually DM but also enjoy being a player.
That's a common assumption among the hobby that I think is faulty. Many might buy a book and never play, some tables use one set of books for the entire group, and other rables have a phb for each player. Claiming that a certain number of people play the game or have played the game based on...
I'm not saying wotc doesn't have data, I'm saying there is no possible way to get accurate data on the hobby because of how the game is played and spread. They may have accurate data for a specific subset of the hobby, but they never say that, they always claim their data is global and...
I do agree that the player base from 5e of current players(including older editions and retroclones and pathfinder) is probably the largest, but thats based on feeling and my own experience, not evidence.
WOTC likes to make blanket statements about the dnd marketplace, players in general, or...
"The majority of current D&D players started with 5th Edition"
This should probably say the majority of 5e dnd players, and players we know about.
Even if it is market research and not just a survey, a lot of their data probably comes from many of their online surveys and looking at online...
just started a OSE(B/X) game modified with some houserules set in Threshold. We're playing over video on Discord. It's an open table so I can accommodate pretty much any schedule. reply here or send me a message if interested
The Wandering Dms , in my opinion far and above better than any other RPG podcast, involves actual discussion and not just banter. Definitely something to listen to if you're interested in old school gaming
Have played in game with 14 players, and DMed 11.
I don't find it extremely difficult, just pay attention to what's going on at the table. Having said that though, my desired table size would be 5 players, enough to have a variety of ideas and goals, but not too many where people are doing...
When I said it would be easy I didn't mean that it would be physically easy for them to do, but that it's easy to see a solution that based medieval tech that might be somewhat comparable to modern solutions to the problem. As the goal is to stop the flyer from becoming a threat, and not...
Thanks for all the replies!
I've looked at some of the discussions that have already taken place here and in other places, but they don't really provide what I'm looking for. I'm looking at physical threats that can be counteracted by physical defenses. Outright magic or things that break the...
