I like the idea that you can come up against a creature where you swing at it and it has absolutely no effect. I feel that incorporeal creatures should be completely immune to non-magical weapons. If something can literally walk through walls, why on earth would it be harmed by a piece of metal...
Bladesinger allows you to cast one of your cantrips in place of an attack.
Eldritch Knight allows you to make one weapon attack as a bonus action when you use your action to cast a cantrip.
The question for me is therefore whether you are using your action to cast a cantrip. You are using your...
Back in 3.x almost all my games were set in Cormyr and the surrounding areas, so my players and I were all very familiar with the lore of the Purple Dragons. This subclass doesn't feel like it was written by someone who knew anything about them. It feels more like they were handing out...
JC has made a bit of a habit of confusing people with Magic Missile. I believe he ruled both that it was 3 separate concentration saves if hit by 3 magic missiles and that it was only a single death save vs all 3 of those missiles (or it may have been the other way round).
I have to say, the changes to some of the creature types in the 2025 MM seems rather stupid, particularly the sneaky way they changed almost all of the flying creatures so that they can't be used for wild shape (at any level). I'd happily revert most/all of them and also allow some of the other...
Just played a game where one of the party was a halfling wild magic sorcerer who used CO as his main offensive spell in any big fights. He would use Tides of Chaos to give himself advantage on the attack roll. Combined with his halfling's Luck trait, he was able to hit more often than not with...
I'm going to blame the DM for my last character death. Our party was fighting a Beholder. The DM hadn't read the eyebeam rules properly and we were taking half damage on a successful save for the disintegration ray. The fight had been going on a while and we were all low on hit points and other...
After watching some of the videos from the D&D Beyond team I purchased the Illrigger class. I've not had a chance to go over it with a fine tooth comb but my first impressions are generally positive. There's a lot of content for your $15 but I do still feel the price is a bit steep.
My main...
The only reason casters went Fighter2 rather than a single level in 2014 was for action surge, which is no longer relevant to casters in 2024. Fighter1 is still a very attractive dip for casters due to Con save proficiency, which Rangers and Paladins don't get. Rangers also don't get heavy armour.
This makes things like Misty Step incredibly useful and arguably a must-have. If you ever played BG3 you'll know how amazing it is to be able to BA spell and cast another spell in the same turn.
The longbow needs Dex of 13 to avoid disadvantage on attack rolls due to the Heavy property:
Heavy
You have Disadvantage on attack rolls with a Heavy weapon if it’s a Melee weapon and your Strength score isn’t at least 13 or if it’s a Ranged weapon and your Dexterity score isn’t at least 13.
