A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture's Artist

After spending two months contacting artists, Expeditious Retreat Press is pleased to announce the search for the artist for A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture is concluded.
Ravindra Rana's (http://www.ravinink.com/news.htm) work will be exclusively featured in the forthcoming book.

Joseph Browning, Co-Owner of Expeditious Retreat Press commented, "We wanted to find an artist with great talent and provide him the opportunity to place his unique vision on our next product. We've gained a reputation for singular focus and creativity, and we wanted to maintain that reputation through showcasing a single artist. Ravi's work, especially his wonderful oils, convinced us that he was the only artist for A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture."

A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture is the second book in the Magical Society line. Focusing on world-building, A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture explains in detail how to make realistic and pleasing world maps, provides GMs with knowledge concerning ecologies and how they can be used for more than just backdrop in a fantasy campaign, and explains how cultures adapt to environment, creating the basis of every good story. As with MMS:WE, providing useful role-playing material will be the focus of every aspect of A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture.

Expeditious Retreat Press is the publisher of the award winning A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. Owned by Joseph Browning and Suzi Yee and established in 2003, Expeditious Retreat Press won three Golden ENnies awards at Gen Con 2003 for published material from MMS:WE.

Joe, looks like you got a good artist as that is an impressive picture. Of course I , like above, am much more interested in the book and getting my grubby little hands on it

I'd probably even buy A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture if it was plain text handwritten on toilet paper. But together with such fine illustrations it's not only a "must have", it's a "can hardly wait" type of book.

I'm with Cergorach and Crothian on this, though. But more art previews would be cool nonetheless

It will be released as a PDF when we send the book to the printers. We're expecting a spring/late spring 2004 release with the PDF coming out 4-6 weeks in advance.

Her Bajoran elf (oils)is even better than the piece Joe featured in this thread, and her lioness (pen and ink) is a remarkably poised and mature piece of work

Ravindra's a he..... . Not that that has much to do with his awesome art.
