First Post
This is the official thread of the January 31st 2004 Detroit Gameday.

I'll edit this post so we can have the schedule posted at the beginning of the thread.

Announcement:
For those of you only checking schedule updates, Mark from Creative Mountain Games has generously offered $20 in CMG products to the winner of a drawing among the Gameday attendees! So sign-up, come, and win some great RPG material!

Morning Games (10:AM - 3:PM)
The Duchess' Tea Party II: Detroit Rock City Version
The game itself is kinda a combination of "How to Host a Murder" and D&D until something big, mysterious, yet clearly foreshadowed happens and then the PCs are all running (and fighting) for their lives. Be prepared to roleplay like crazy, try and ferret out the secrets the other PCs are hiding, and then desparately scramble to stay alive.

Journey back to when dungeons were dungeons, evil lived in caves, and killing-things-and-taking-their-stuff was a way of life. This classic Greyhawk campaign, infused with 3.5 rules and updated with an all new storyline, will challenge both veterans and newcomers alike.

"Lunch" Break(3:PM - 4:PM)

Afternoon Games (4:PM - 9:PM)
Motor City Infest
It's just another typical mid-January Friday night in downtown Detroit. The Wings are on the ice at JLA playing host to the hated Avs; the North American International Auto Show is underway; the streets are crowded with people on their way to the casinos and Windsor. Your characters are heading to their cars so they can go home after a long day. Sounds simple enough, but then real life horror stories always start with rather banal events don't they?
Players: This game is geared towards novice CoC players, but should provide enough thrills for veterans too. As such, PC's will be created on site to enhance the sense of loss :D ... but I'll bring some pregens just in case.

Whose sword was this?
Whose sword was this? Why is its blade missing? And why in the nine hells is it babbling about a dragon, a ghost, and a prison full of rare, exotic, and deadly creatures? If you're lucky, you'll find out. If you're unlucky, the dragon will kill you.

Wait a minute... did you say that sword hilt was talking?

Designed (or, at least, loosely thrown together) for 12th-level characters. 32-point buy, standard gold for 12th level.

I'd like to run a game; I'll post a summary a little bit later. I'd also like to play one, so I'm only volunteering for the one this time around!

LOL! I know exactly where that is. It's about 5 miles from one of the warehouses our company owns.. I was there about 3 weeks ago.

Anyways, I am so in on this, it hurts.
I was surprised by how much gaming space they have! There's another (bigger) room in the back that we'll be using (with 2 walls of windows). It should be pretty nice!

The store is open from 10AM to Midnight, so I'm going to schedule 2 5-hour slots (10 to 3 then 4 to 9).

If games get done early, I think there are a few people bringing some quick / card games that can be played in the meantime.

Let me know what you think about the times!

Okay - I have *gasp* never been to a Gameday or a Con.

So help me - what can I expect? What do I need to bring? What do I need to sign up for? How does all this work?

If this is too OT for this thread, please email me: taria@chartermi.net. Please put "Gameday" in the Subject line, or I may think it is junk mail and not read it... :D

No worries FallenAngel. I've been to 2 Chicago gamedays and that's it.

What will happen is we'll (hopefully) get volunteers to GM some games in the morning and afternoon sessions. When you see something you like, post here and sign up.

Some GMs will bring pregenerated characters and others will ask you to bring your own (the GM should say which when they volunteer).

If you've got relevant books, bring `em. Don't worry if you don't have a book, just sign up for what you want to play (this is a good time to try something new).

The games generally last from 3 to 5 hours and are just a one shot adventure (usually).

It's pretty relaxed and, since this is the first time we've done one of these here, everyone will be getting to know each other for the first time.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you've got any other questions.
