Detroit Gameday: Jan 31!! The Aftermath!!

Okay - I have *gasp* never been to a Gameday or a Con.

So help me - what can I expect? What do I need to bring? What do I need to sign up for? How does all this work?

If this is too OT for this thread, please email me: taria@chartermi.net. Please put "Gameday" in the Subject line, or I may think it is junk mail and not read it... :D
I have to admit; I was a bit nervous about my first Gameday, just from the standpoint that meeting strange gamers from the Internet is potentially a recipe for disaster. ;)

Just bring your books and your dice (and some cash for lunch) and you'll be set. Games to sign up for will start appearing in this thread over the next few weeks, and the GMs (or DMs or what-have-you) will tell you if you need to make characters as well, or what.

This is great. I'm in. I'd like to sign up to particpate in Mr. Dyal's morning game. It'll be night to meet him since I play in his on-line game.

LOL! I know exactly where that is. It's about 5 miles from one of the warehouses our company owns.. I was there about 3 weeks ago.

Anyways, I am so in on this, it hurts.
So Kender, are you going to run something? :D

OK, since we haven't got a lot of games yet, I'm thinking about running an Arcana Unearthed (the Monte Cook one) game or a Mutants & Masterminds - Fantasy game. I'd also be open do doing something d20 Modern/Dark*Matter-ish.

Any opinions?

The Duchess' Tea Party II: Detroit Rock City Version

OK, this started out as a bit of a joke. Whenever some gaming elitist has a "roleplaying epiphany" online, somebody else has to come in and joke about their session of roleplaying "the Duchess' Tea Party." However, due to the success of the experiment at the recent Chicago Gameday, the Duchess' Tea Party is back!

I'll pregen characters, but tell me what race/class combo you want. Every character will have a background sheet, complete with secrets. The game itself is kinda a combination of "How to Host a Murder" and D&D until something big, mysterious, yet clearly foreshadowed :) happens and then the PCs are all running (and fighting) for their lives. Be prepared to roleplay like crazy, try and ferret out the secrets the other PCs are hiding, and then desparately scramble to stay alive. ;) Up to six players.

I was surprised by how much gaming space they have! There's another (bigger) room in the back that we'll be using (with 2 walls of windows). It should be pretty nice!
Windows? Aren't gamers allergic to sunlight? *duck* :)

As for me running a game.. Hm. Let me think. I have to decide if I want to just play, or run. :)

And if I run, Shadowrun or D&D? Or Paranoia.. oh dear God, Paranoia... heheheh.

I can bring Nuclear War if someone wants to play it.

Ok folks, I have several comments:

1) Congrats to JD and shadowlight for making the often talked about, but never coordinated, Detroit Gameday a reality. Kudos (and thanks) to you both!!
2) I'm officially signing up to play in Josh's morning game.
3) I will volunteer my services as GM/DM for an afternoon game session. I've previously run a d20 Call of Cthulhu one shot that has evolved from a Monte Cook adventure at two previous Gamedays. I also used this scenario as the genesis for the CoC campaign I was running with JD as a player several months ago. I'd love to run the game here. If not, I'm in the midst of crafting an a D&D adventure based on one of my Iron DM entries, and I can playtest what's developed. Whichever has more interest is the way I'll go.

I look forward to seeing you all there!!
