There seems to be some confusion between what is Porn, and what it Erotica.

Literally, by the dictionary...

Erotica: literary or artistic works having an erotic theme or quality; depicitions of things erotic

Erotic: of, devoted to, or tending to arouse sexual love or desire (~ art); strongly marked or affected by sexual desire

Pornography: the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement; material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement; the depiction of actions in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction

More bluntly, Erotica is the depiction of a nude form or love scene for the sake of art or the depiction and/or expression or emotions, most notably love and desire. Pornography is an image, memory, picture, etc. that one keeps around as a substitute for sexual activity or general excitemement or just for a 'quick release'.


NOW TO THE TOPIC AT HAND!

It may not be (as so many others have stated) what we as humans would recognize as pornographic by our standards, but it is doubtless there, nonetheless. But I would venture a guess that any intelligent race of mammals finds sex to be a pleasureable activity, and thus takes an approach to it similar to ours. Orcs may be universally into S&M, for instance, while Elves may focus greatly on the foreplay aspect of sex. This would in turn be reflected in their pornography, respectively.

IIRC it has worked, and was used to facilitate the last giant panda mating (and is now being tried again on the next prospective panda mother). Although for the pandas, it isn't porn, it's instructional.

If you are going to talk leather and spikes, that brings in the whole question of just what sort of art adorns our PHB and DMG...

Almost derails this into what would be considered purely "gamer porn" - centerfolds of dwarves and elves in the PHB?

"Hey, Bob, did you get this week's "Play Dragon?" Did you see the centerfold? Check out the stat-block on THAT magical sword! (Literally - as in new magic items and spells and their stat blocks...) That is what gets us gamers excited. Well, and the occasional ecology article.

This leads to the more general (on thread) question of what, if any, other literature might a monster have? I mean, will there be Orc epic poetry as well as Play-orc? Will there only be enough literature in orcish for orcs to hide their orc pron inside of when they don't want anyone to know they are looking at it? In reality, that industry is a multi-billion dollar industry - it is a significant portion of all internet traffic. I wonder if the ratio of that to "higher" literature would be similar with monsters.

And probably the implements they use would be mostly unrecognizable to PCs. Especially for the more alien monsters and the aberrations. You may go to a lot of trouble to come up with all of this stuff, but then when you describe it to the PCs, it will just sound like random junk that they'll probably mostly ignore anyway.
